Phase I; XI

I; XI I reluctantly moved to sit on the stairs, my legs were shaking and my hands were trembling. I had so many questions I wanted to ask but instead, I kept quiet and waited for her to tell me what she had to say. "Aleka, please explain to me how all these people are my ancestors" I said in a calm voice but in reality, I wasn't feeling calm at all. I was raging with confusion inside. 'There are the daughters of Hearani Clan' she said. Hearani? Isn't that my mother's family? I asked. 'Yes, you're correct. Your mother was the last generation to die which means you are the only surviving daughter of the clan' Aleka said. "And the locket?" I asked. 'The Hearanis are protectors of the Sacred Jewelry of Afthonia which is why they were given high status of commanders and a safety locket in which the jewelry could be stored' she narrated. "Jewelry? What jewelry?" I asked. 'You're a smart girl. Why don't you guess?' She threw the question back at me. I held the locket hanging on my neck in my hands and I already knew the answer. "But you said Afthonia? And Afthonia is a lost fantasy world so how is that possible when we are humans?" I asked confusingly. 'The only reason why your human nature was restored to you was because the jewel was taken away from you but if the jewel is restored to its rightful position, the supernatural power would be restored to the Hearani Clan' "But how? Who was going to restore this jewel and where?" I asked. 'The answer lies with you, Andronika,' she muttered. "What do you mean?" I asked. "Why do you think I chose you? Why do you think I instructed to take the jewel back from the museum? Did you just think I chose you randomly?' She asked. "Umm, yeah..." I trailed off. 'Well, I didn't. I had a reason to choosing you and that is why only you can restore the jewel back to Afthonia in its rightful place' she said. What?! "What are you saying, Aleka?! I can't do that, I have no power in me to do something enormous and besides, Afthonia is lost, how do I get to a place where even the world has declared its none existence?" I rolled my eyes. 'Afthonia is lost to those who choose to believe it doesn't exist,' she said. "What do you mean? So, you are saying that Afthonia does exist?" I asked. 'If it didn't, why do you think your mother handed that locket to you to protect and why is your Aunt hiding who you are from you?' She asked. For a moment, I was silent as I pondered on what she had said and everything I have found out in the last few minutes. My ancestors, The jewel, Afthonia. All too impossible to believe. "But why? Why did my Aunt hide this from me? Why did she hide who I was?" I asked. 'Sometimes people often hide the truth to protect, unbeknownst to them, a lie can never protect' Aleka said simply. "All this...It's kind of too much to take in. I mean... It's not everyday one finds our that they are from a fantasy world and have to restore a jewel to a lost world" I sighed. 'I understand, it's hard to comprehend at first but trust me, the sooner you start to accept that you are no ordinary human being, the better it will be for you,' She said. "But how do I find this Afthonia place? Is it in a country or out of space?" I asked. 'With guidance, you shall see the way before your feet,' she said mysteriously. "What's with you today and the quotes?" I snickered. 'Shut up, I'm good at it!' She snapped. "Didn't say otherwise," I raised my hands in surrender. "But then, how are you related to all of this? And how do you know me and my family's history?" I asked. 'It's because I'm your ancestor, the first daughter and protector of Hearani Clan of Afthonia' she replied. WHAT?!!
