Cathie folded her arms, her eyes fixed on Rowan for a long, unreadable moment. It was the kind of silence that made powerful men uneasy. Rowan, however, simply leaned back in his chair, studying her as if she were a puzzle deliberately withholding its final piece. “Do you know why I called you here?” she finally asked at last, her tone calm but intense. “I can guess,” Rowan replied lightly, settling deeper into his seat.
