Cassie and Malekai began to make their way from Miss Maggie’s toward Doc Sims’ home. They saw Aaron and Zach leaning against a wall, out of sight of Doc’s house, as they sipped coffee. Cassie saw the smirks both men were wearing as she and Malekai drew closer.
“Alpha, Luna,” Zach addressed them with an exaggerated bow.
“If you punch my Gamma in the face, I won’t see a thing,” Malachi told Cassie.
“No, that’s too easy,” Cassie replied as she smiled at her brother. “If I do it now, he will be expecting it. It will be so much better to wait and catch him by surprise.”
Aaron began to snicker as Zach’s face dropped, and he muttered, “You are all mean.”
“Only when you deserve it,” Malekai told him. “Now, back to the business at hand. What is going on with Doc Sims?”
