Malekai was waiting for them outside Miss Maggie’s shop when Cassie pulled into a space and parked in front of the stone building. He smiled as he held the door open for Jax and Cassie to enter without saying a word. Cassie could see the glimmer in his eye as he looked at her. She felt that word had already spread about Jax and the new doctor being mates and their extremely public display of affection.
“There you are,” Miss Maggie called as she rounded the corner behind her counter and made a beeline for Jax. “Oh, you are even more striking than the town gossips said you were. Come with me.” Miss Maggie took Jax’s hand and stopped in her tracks. Her eyes grew wide as she stared into Jax’s face.
“Miss Maggie? Is something wrong?” Cassie questioned, having never seen her react in that way
