The Dark Between Us

Albert I had barely noticed the soft click behind me. A sharp sting pierced my neck, too quick to react. The smell of wolfsbane having had made me weak already. Panic bloomed as the world spun around me. My vision blurred; my limbs weakened. Then darkness. “Please let Emon be okay." I thought as I closed my eyes unwillingly. I woke up to the suffocating scent of damp earth and wood and on a hard surface. The air was stale, heavy with mold and it was suffocating. I tried to move, but my wrists were bound, my legs too. Panic clawed up my throat. The room, or cave or whatever it was, was pitch black, save for a small slit of light from above. I couldn’t tell how long I had been out. Hours? A day? I didn't know but my throat felt parched. “Hello?” My voice cracked. “Anyone there?"
