The ground beneath me wasn't at all steady as I retracted from the defense position I had taken up before Petra arrived. Were we having an earthquake or was it the effect of whatever they had shot me with? Why is Petra here? Out of all the people that would have walked through that door to save me, I didn't think it would be the petite she wolf. The annoyance building up in my chest faded and I looked over Petra. She looked nervous but seemed to be in good shape. I would have expected at least for her to have broken a sweat. The guys that I'd seen were almost the same size as Kev.
