Chapter Twelve

1703 Words
|| Eleanor's POV || I wake up in a bed that isn't familiar... at all. Oh no... Oh no-no-no-no-no. This can't- didn't- wouldn't happen to me, would it? I didn't even drink... I didn't even talk to anyone I didn't know... I didn't- buzz. buzz. buzz. I pick up my phone to see it's currently 2 in the morning and that I've gotten a few texts from Andy.  Eleanor || Anthony  I don't know if you woke up yet but you passed out so I just put you somewhere, sorry if that scared you. I had to leave the party to drop off a friend, just message me when you need me to come back. It was an emergency so I kinda left without a word of warning, sorry again Thanks, and don't worry I wasn't scared... yes I was... even though I'm fully clothed. I'll probably just fall asleep again haha... catch you in a bit Sounds good I turn off my phone and hear people still chatting downstairs, this time a little more frantically than before. The sound of chanting seems to pique my interest so I quickly go to the restroom, looking at my appearance. I look to see mascara and tear stains spotted on my cheeks and my eyes are a little puffy... great. I quickly wipe off as much as I can, then splash my face with cold water, soon coming to a slight agreement with my appearance. I walk downstairs and see people crowding around a table, cheering some people on. Piquing my interest I walk closer to the table, seeing the action. I squeeze my way into the small crowd and see 3 boys sitting side by side, taking shot after shot.  "Come on babe! You can win!" Veronica cheers, placing a sloppy kiss on Jullian's lips before he takes yet another shot, finishing them all. "Hey Norie! Wassupp!" Jullian chuckles with a toothy grin as he raises a glass. "We should take a shot for Norie!" He says and the others cheer, happily having an excuse to get another drink. I begin to turn around before he calls my name again, making me turn around. He begins to gesture me to come over, which I reluctantly oblige, slowly making my way towards him. "What Jullian." I scoff, which he gives a frown. "Why are you being so mean? Did I do something wrong?" "Something like that." I deadpan, which he frowns even more, then smiles again. "Well anyways, I need to talk to you," he sighs. "Okay, then talk." "Alone," he slurs, beginning to stand up. "Everyone! I will be back!" He yells, which everyone either cheers or laughs, some both. "Let's go," He chuckles, walking into a secluded area not far from the kitchen. "What Jullian," I mutter which he begins to lean his head towards mine. His breath smells densely of alcohol and I turn my head, making his lips run into my cheek. "What was that for?" He stutters, which I scoff. "Jullian you're drunk... and don't even know what you're doing," I sigh, slightly pushing him away. As I begin to walk off he grabs me by the arm, looking me dead in the eyes. "I thought you loved me Norie? Don't you kiss people you love?" I let out a pained laugh before pulling my arm out of his grasp, "Wow Jullian." I say before walking back into the room upstairs, making sure to lock the door. ・・・ "You should race then!" I voice yells from downstairs, clearly drunk. "Fine, let's go loser," One of the competitors yells, others seeming to laugh at his response. I simply roll my eyes at their banter like I have for the past 20 or-so minutes, continuing to distract myself with my phone. "Two drunks racing, this should be funny." Another voice yells aloud, which my eyes quickly dart from my phone to my open door, revealing the stairs. I quickly put my phone in my pocket, jogging down the stairs to see two boys stumbling towards there car, one of them stopping towards a familiar beaten-down truck. I quickly let out a forced breath of air before quickly heading towards the car, holding the front door closed before he could get in. "Come on Eleanor don't be lame, it's just a race." Jullian slurs, then his face turning into a frown, "Why do you care anyways, you don't love me anyways," he mutters as he pulls it open against my arm. "Jullian just shut up and get in the passenger seat," I quickly take the keys out of his grasp, which he whines. "get in or walk home," I threaten as he stays silent, slowly making his way in the passenger seat like a scolded puppy. "You better win this race," he mumbles as he puts on his seatbelt and I start the truck. "Yeah.... sure," I say as I begin to leave the neighborhood, heading onto the main road. "Where are you going? I want to win $50!" He yells, trying to turn the wheel which I slap his hand away. "It's either $50 or your life you idiot." "You only live once duh, so the $50," he says, pleased with his logic. "Where do you live," I sigh, keeping my eyes away from his drunken gaze. "I dunno, why?" He slurs, which I nearly roll my eyes, again. "Never mind," I mutter, heading towards my house. "Lame," He sighs, turning up the volume. I quickly turn it back down before I get permanent ear damage. "We're almost there, so just be quiet." "Lame." ・・・ "You can just sleep here," I say handing Jullian a spare blanket as he lays on the couch, seeming interested in anything but my words. "There's water and Advil here for you to use in the morning, I'll be upstairs if you need anything I guess." "Coolio," he mumbles, which the room fills with awkward silence, causing me to slowly walk away, turning my attention to my phone to messaging Anthony about getting home alright. "Night Norie," he whispers, shuffling around on the couch. "Night Jullian," I say, turning off the living room light. ・・・ I walk downstairs to see Jullian sitting at the island, glass of water in hand. "I see you've managed to survive the night," I say which he responds by pressing on his temples, giving a sigh. "Yeah... something like that."  "Did you even take the Advil I gave you?" "Yeah yeah yeah, I just need some silence right now," he says waving me off, which I just scoff. "That's what happens when you drink a lot," I say knowingly. "No s**t," He mutters, getting aggravated.  "Now you know instead of becoming a hungover asshole to actually keep your word next time," I say under my breath, which he turns around, eyebrows furrowed "What did you say?" He says in a low tone, which I shake my head. "Next time-" "You know I wouldn't have if it weren't for you," He scoffs, looking back at the island. "Bullshit, you just needed an excuse to drink some more like everyone else, looking back on last night it's pretty damn obvious why Andy wanted me to go with him without you knowing, so I could see the drunk you are-"  "You don't know why I did what I did," He huffs, getting up and looking at me, which I respond by crossing my arms and leaning back on the wall beside me. "Obviously not because I thought we were going to be all fine and dandy but then you go and pull this drunk bullshit? I really thought we had a chance at being close to normal again, Jullian," I say beginning to raise my voice. "You knew we were never going to be normal again Norie, my god you're so clueless." He says back, which I laugh. "Do you even want us to talk again? Because I can't tell at this point." "I don't know anymore, you're making it really difficult." He scoffs, ignoring my gaze. "I'm making it difficult? You're the one who's sending mixed signals! You're acting like a child!" I begin to yell in frustration. "Says the one who lets people stomp over them all the time," He yells back, which I begin biting the inside of my lip. "Remind me not to stop you from driving off drunk next time," I deadpan, slightly taken back by my own words. He begins to say something before I grab his keys from the hanger next to me and toss them to him, "Just get out," I sigh, running my hand through my hair. He pauses before scoffing, walking out of the door. I let out a shaky breath when I close the door behind him, slowly locking it. I walk back to the counter to see a crumpled up sticky note, peaking my interest. I slowly unfold it, reading the lazy handwriting inside. thanks for yesterday, because I know I'm not gonna say it. - J I let out another sigh before tossing it in the trash bin beside me, heading up the stairs. When I reach my bed I quickly grab my phone, getting comfortable in the bed, something I haven't done in a while. I unlock my phone to see a few messages from various people. Jamieeeee: You coming to work tomorrow morning? Birth Giver: Hey I woke up to see our couch was occupied by a certain someone. I'm at work now but are you two friends again? - Mom Anthony: Did Jullian crashed at your place? I put my phone down as I let out a sigh, letting out an audible scream into my pillow out of pure frustration. Why is my life so complicated. ・・・ It's currently 3 am and my phone buzzes, interrupting my Netflix binge. I quickly grab my phone, unlocking it to see a message from Jullian. A small groan comes from me as I unlock my phone to reveal the message. "Hey Jaime I can't make it to work this morning... yeah, sorry, it's just... something popped up." Jullian: Meet me at the spot, please.
