Chapter 5

1473 Words
Looking Out My Back Door! Mason Mason chopped wood all day long until four pm rolled around. His muscles ached. Especially after he hurt his shoulder the night before. He had Hannah and her beautiful smile on his mind all day long. Ever since she touched his shoulder. He felt a spark appear between them. But he did not want to rush her. She was a woman of mystery to him so far. A kind woman though. She had beautiful blue eyes like his own. Blond hair that curled down her head. She was not too tall. Not to short. She was just right for him. He had to get her out of his mind. She was his friend. That was all. ♥☆♥☆♥ "Mason! The guys and I are going to the bar to get a few drinks. We are meeting up with a group of girls, tourists' who are in town. Want to come man?" asks his buddy Mark. "No, I hurt my arm last night. I think I will stay in for the night" he mumbles. "Are you sure that is the only reason why you are staying in for the night?" jokes Ralph Masters who was his brother Nathan's best friend. "So it is? What else would it be?" he snaps defensively. "I hear there is a hot little number that moved in next door to Mason here" Ralph tells everyone there as they work on sawing logs. "Really? Is she hot? Is she single?" Travis Dallas wants to know curiously. "Now see what you started big mouth" snaps Mason over at Ralph. "I was just repeating what I heard from Nathan. Word on the street is that Nathan is NOT allowed to touch this pretty little thing" laughs Ralph. "Shut up!" warns Mason as he glares at Ralph. "Well it is true right? You told Nathan to stay away from her?" asks Ralph. "Even if I did it is not your concern" warns Mason. "So staking your claim in this little lady already now are we Mason?" jokes Travis. "LEAVE HER ALONE! All of you! Do you hear me? She is a nice girl. She is single you dogs. But she has a kid" he yells at them all with a heated anger. "Touché. We were just rattling your chains man" Ralph apologizes to him. "Leave her alone" warns Mason heeds his warning again to them all. "It has been awhile since Mason had any side action around here. Cut him some slack" warns Travis. "Shut it" Mason growls. "How long has it been since Nadine passed away from the car wreck at prom?" pipes up Ralph. "Shut UP!" warns Mason. He lunges over at Ralph with a burning anger inside of him. He and Ralph began to throw punches at each other. ♥☆♥☆♥ "Fight, fight, fight!" the crowd began to chant. Ralph had always been jealous that Mason asked out Nadine before him. He always was a thorn in Mason's side. They wrestle on the floor. "Hey! Hey! Break it up!" demands someone new. Their boss. Everyone stops chanting. Mason and Ralph were still to busy fighting over Nadine to hear their boss. "I said break it up fellas" demands their boss as he yanks the two men off each other. There was Thomas Ross. A little short balding tubby man with a bad case of arm pit stain. He did not take any crap off anyone. "What started this fight?" demands Thomas. Mason was known for being a bit of a hot head at times. Getting himself into trouble. "It was Ralph this time sir. He was heckling Mason" Travis comes to Mason's rescue. Mason nods. "Is that true Ralph?" asks Thomas. "Yes sir" he sighs. "Three times this week. I can't afford to baby-sit you boys" warns Mr. Ross with anger. The pipe whistles. It was quitting time. Everyone goes to leave. Ralph tries to leave. Mr. Ross stops him. "You ain't leaving. In my office now" he demands. "Aw boss" groans Ralph. "I am sorry about Nadine. She was a good girl" says Travis to Mason as they take off their work gloves and head to clock out. "She was. It is time I get over her" he sighs. "It has been a few years man. Maybe you should find a good girl. Nadine would want you to be happy" he tells Mason as he clocks out of work. "Maybe!" says Mason. "Have a good night" says Travis. ♥☆♥☆♥ Mason nods. He clocks out. He had not thought about Nadine in a long time. Now her ghost was haunting his mind at that moment. He got into his car after getting his things from his locker. He headed on home. He saw that Hannah's truck was not there yet. She must be at the school to pick up her daughter. Mason let himself in his place. He began to clean up the big mess he made the night before. He began to sweep up the feathers all over the floor. He cleaned up the kitchen. Washed things down. Filled up his dog bowl. He went over and made his bed. He threw away the torn up pillows. He went to his closet. He grabbed some new pillows. It was not the first time that he had torn up pillows before. He kept a lot of extra pillows around in case he needed them. He sighs as he lays down on his bed. He had not been with a woman since his high school love Nadine had died a long time ago. Their senior year of school. He rolled over on the bed. He pulls out an old photo of himself and Nadine. He looks over it. She was so pretty. He missed her so much. Her smile. Her laugh. Her long talks, she had been the only woman he told that he was a werewolf to. She had accepted him as he was. She let him sneak her out of her home at night so he could run her around in the woods. She would hang onto his fur and hug on tight. They had such a deep connection. It was all his fault he lost her. It was his fault she had died. It was the night of prom. He was planning on asking her to marry him. They had talked about it before. They wanted to marry one another after school. They went to prom. He had a motel room picked out for a romantic first night together. He could recall it like it was yesterday.... ♥☆♥☆♥  "Thank you for taking me to prom Mason" Nadine tells him as she wraps her arm around his neck. She smiles up at him. He leans in and kisses her softly. "There is no one else I would rather take" he vows. "Who else would you take? You better not say Kathy Segman" she giggles about the head cheerleader. "Her beauty does not hold a candle to you" he vows. They soon lost track of time. They danced together. They made out heavily. "Mason?" she asks softly in between kisses. "Yes Nadine?" he asks. "I want to you to make love to me. Tonight. I am sure of it. I want tonight to be the night" she demands sternly. "You are sure?" he laughs with joy. She nods. "I want you" she vows as she kisses him seductively. "I happen to have good news" he laughs with joy. "What is that?" she wonders. "I have a room key. I rented us a room in case you felt that way. I was not going to pressure you. I was wanting to be ready. For this night to be perfect" he tells her softly. "Oh Mason. I know you would never pressure me" she vows. She kisses him once more. They rushed over to the car. Left the party. He forgot what time it was. It was midnight. He transformed into a werewolf. "Mason, the car! Watch the car" she begs as the car swerves around on the road. He winced in pain as he changed. ♥☆♥☆♥ He could not see that well to drive. The car tumbled into the ditch. He could hear her scream in terror. He could not have saved her that night. When he woke the car was crashed into a tree. She was passed out. She ended up hitting her head. She died in his arms that night. Mason places the photo back into the drawer. It was best if he never let himself fall in love again. That way he never could hurt anyone else like he hurt Nadine. ♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥
