Chapter 35 Long shadows made the quiet street look like a ghost town. It matched the feeling of emptiness in Annie’s chest, as if some part of her was missing. Lost forever. Her childhood, perhaps. Nalong was a pretty sleepy town to begin with, but on a public holiday, and now after-hours, there was hardly anyone around at all.
