Chapter 40 Kiah Langley’s funeral was a very small gathering, which she would have approved of, but it was also very sombre, which she would have hated. Yet all in all, Annie knew she wouldn’t have really cared because it just wasn’t that important to her. The important part came a few days later, when Annie tapped on Lucas’s window in the pre-dawn light with an ornamental urn under her arm. Harry was already up and waiting, of course, so without a word Annie led them both down to the river and then started to pick her way southwards along the overgrown trail.
