When Lucas finally pulled back she breathed out, and her lungs protested against breathing in again without him touching her. ‘I knew it. I knew you wouldn’t be able to steal from me if I kissed you.’ His voice was soft, throaty and beautiful, and it was so close that she almost snatched it straight from his lips, but she let him explain. ‘I remembered from last time. On the beach. I remembered how it felt to feel you, without you playing any of your dirty tricks.’ She flinched. ‘Dirty tricks? You said you didn’t mind. You said it felt better when I took it away.’ ‘Better for whom? I’ve changed my mind, Annie. I’m tired of these games. No more lies, no more secrets, and no more stealing. I can’t do it anymore.’ ‘But Harry—’ ‘I bet you a thousand dollars that Harry’s smiling at us.’
