The Genesis

May 30,

They waited for about 30 minutes, stuck in the school, hoping for the green fog to clear off, but it didn't.

The students and teachers searched for online news from their phones, but they saw nothing. All the stations were down. And the internet was really slow to connect, so, they all gave up.

"Please, students, don't panic. I'm sure this is gonna be over pretty soon, but since we don't know what's in this fog or whether it's harmful, all we need to do is stay calm and stay put, because as far as I can tell, this fog is harmful." The principal, Mrs Stewart announced.

"What if this fog doesn't go away till the day is over?" One of the senior boys asked, it was pretty obvious he was anxious to go home and meet his parents.

"Then we still have to stay here till this fog clears, is that clear?" Immediately Mrs Stewart said that, various students began murmuring loudly, protesting they wanted to go home. One asthmatic patient even started to have a panic attack on this spot while his friends were trying so hard to revive him.

"Thank you for saving me, Levi. I would have been flattened on the floor, probably died, but no one cared to save me except you. I owe you my life," Tracy hugged Levi. Small tears formed on her eyelids as she hugged him tighter.

Levi couldn't say anything because of how perplexed she was, the girl he had been pining for since he stepped into the school was not only thanking him, but hugging him as well. His cheeks turned red and almost turned purple from the immense blush he was having. Electric charges sparked in his body and he began to feel an erection.

He didn't want to embarrass himself, so he pulled her off him and held her at arms length, before he spoke, "Hey, it was nothing Tracy, I didn't want this school to lose one of the nicest souls around here," he flattered.

"Really you think I'm nice?" Tracy asked.

"You are," he blushed harder.

Tracy brought her face closer to his, and he inched his face closer to her, but before anything could happen, someone from the far end of the corner shouted.

"Hey, the fog is disappearing, it's clearing off, thank God!" He screamed.

Students rushed to go take a look, including Tracy and Levi. They all cheered and clapped.

Ten minutes later, after patiently waiting for the teachers to take them home, the other never came. The students began grumbling again.

"Let us out!" Harvey, one of the popular boys in school yelled.

"We can't let you go out now, let's wait till we get there-" Mrs Stewart didn't do what she wanted to say because Harvey immediately ran and opened the school entrance door. Immediately he did, all the students too thought it wise to follow his lead. Soon everyone started running in a pandemic way.

Daniel, Danielle, David and Levi took that opportunity to stop at David's home because his was the closest.

On their way to his home, they noticed abandoned cars on the street, people lying unconscious on the street, everywhere looked lonely and deserted. But the four of them kept moving forward to avoid delay.

When they got to David's home, they immediately rushed in looking for his parents. They searched everywhere but they couldn't find any soul in the house. They tried calling with their cellphones but the service was still down.

They searched Daniel's house, Levi's house and, lastly, Dan's house, but they saw the same thing, which was nothing.

They all started panicking, most especially Danielle, who was fond of her parents, and would go insane if anything happened to them.

Dan didn't care much because he came from a dysfunctional home and he didn't really care if they were dead or not. "I hope they got caught up in the fog," he scoffed. "This is hilarious, where could they be?" He started giggling.

"Will you shut up!" Danielle yelled. More like an order than a question. "Don't be so inhumane about this. How could you possibly laugh at this? We don't know what is happening or what has happened to our parents, and you're here infuriating us. Please, we need to put our heads up and think right now," after she said that, she rushed out crying.

"But, I was just kidding," Daniel mumbled.

"Way to blow it Daniel," David said.

"Okay, let's be serious now, I'm still sorry Danielle, I was just being a d**k," Dan apologized, scratched his nose, then he continued.

"There was a bomb explosion, then people started falling down to the ground. Now are people missing? We need to get to the bottom of it. And I know the first place to go find out what's happening." Daniel spoke firmly.

"Where?" Danielle asked.

"The police, the nearest station ain't that far from here, I think we need to go now," Daniel said to them and they immediately ran out of the house to go find information on what was happening.
