"I don't know why I even bothered waiting," Alex said as he rolled his eyes at the couple. "I knew you'd be staying here."
Astrid rolled her eyes too before pulling Alex into a hug. Joshua felt a slight pang in his chest but immediately dismissed it as he knew Alex was just an old friend now.
"Take care, okay?" Alex said before stepping back. Then he turned towards Joshua. "It's not too late to back out, you know?"
That earned him a harsh slap on the arm from Astrid and a chuckle from Joshua before heading towards his car.
He heaved a heavy sigh as he got tempted to steal one last glance towards his first love. With great self control, he was able to resist and open the car door towards the driver's seat.
He felt lighter as he revved up the engine of his car.
