Quinn and Soren sprinted toward the edge of the sand, calling after Henry. “Henry! Wait!” Quinn shouted. “Dude! Stop!” Soren yelled. Henry didn’t even look back. He had his skateboard under his feet, earbuds in. indie rock blasted from his headphones, loud enough to cut him off from the world behind him. He popped off the sand onto the pavement and pushed hard, weaving between parked cars. Every shove of the board put more distance between him and the others. “He’s ignoring us,” Quinn said, breathless. “Yeah,” Soren said. “He’s gone.” They slowed to a stop, out of breath. Quinn dropped his hands to his knees and glanced over at Soren. “I think we should let him go,” Quinn said. “Not tonight.” Soren sighed. “Yeah.
