Chapter 35

Yasmyn's POV

The walk to the room is filled with pure silence again. I didn't know what to say and maybe, it was the same with Brendan too.

The room they gave us is pretty decent but not up to the standards though . But this will do for the next few hours until the help arrives .

"How are we going to call for help ?" I asked Brendan as soon as we walked in and locked the door behind us .

"First I will get down and see if someone here can help with the vehicle . If they somehow made it possible for us to drive it for a while at least until we reach the closest werewolf pack , the Alpha of that pack will take things from there , " Brendan said and I nodded at him.

Alpha to Alpha and Alpha to Royals have the phone call connections. Us werewolves heavily rely on the mindlink process so we don't really have any other mode of communication.

"But before that , I will see if there is something to eat . I don't know why but this place seems creepy the more I stay here , " he said.

Thankfully he did not bring up the subject about whatever happened earlier. That is something I did letting my impulsive thoughts win . It was not pre-planned or something so I really hope he can understand it .

" I will come too . Let us just eat out if we find a place so , " I said and he nodded .

We took turns showering and threw new pairs of clothes before walking out . The girl at the reception rolled her eyes when she saw me again and I really wish people here know who I am and where I come from .

But without our identities , it is clear that Brendan is the star here . People are staring at him, girls are day dreaming about him and I even saw a group of teenage girls giggle when Brendan stared at them casually .

"Are you really that handsome or are you handsome by human standards ? " I asked him and he looked at me, with his left eyebrow raised .

"I don't know. Maybe I should ask a girl , " he said and turned around but paused to look at me with a smirk again , "but I am afraid you are just going to kiss me again to prove that I am taken "

Here it goes. Brendan finally started talking about the issue I was trying to forget. Damn I hate him so much.

"Hate yourself too , sis. You were the one who kissed him though , " my wolf said and just when I thought I was starting to like her , she went ahead and did this .

"You need to give me a name though. And not the old crap you tried to name me earlier . Give me a name that has a meaning , " My wolf said and I blocked her .

It was Brendan who taught me how to block my wolf and life had been so great ever since I learnt that trick. I could hear my wolf huff in the back of my head .

"So you and your wolf are finally getting along ?" Brendan asked me probably after realising that I was talking to my wolf as I zoned out .

"I can't say I am getting along with her but I can say that I can tolerate her . And she can tolerate me too. We are in the process but we are getting there . I suggested names like Ava, Ruth and many more but my wolf wants something exotic . How stupid ," I rolled my eyes but Brendan did not find that amusing .

We found a place that has a small sign with the image of a burger. Not only that but the burger was filled with lights and it looked pretty honestly . And how come it is already time for the sun to set ? Does that mean we wasted much time walking or are we closer to The Sundown Pack ?

Brendan and I walked in and a waitress smiled at us , guiding me to the table . It is a busy place and there was only one table available but the seats were four though .

"If at all there is a rush , will you guys be okay with sharing this table with two more people ? " She asked me again in such a way that I felt sorry for her and nodded as a yes.

"Thank you . I will get you the menu and you can order right up , " she said as she walked away and Brendan gave me a flat look .

"What? I have seen busy diners and I know the kind of pressure these people have . You wouldn't know ," I rolled my eyes as I took the chair beside Brendan .

By any chance if someone else comes and sits at the table with us , I don't want to be sitting beside a stranger .

"You don't really have the term secrecy in your dictionary , do you?" Brendan asked me and I looked at him confused .

"You were talking to your wolf when we were walking on human territory . Humans don't do that . We need to blend in well at least until we find a way and get out of here . You really do suck and survival skills , " Brendan said but his voice was on a lighter note so I understood that he did not tell that to me in a serious way .

I went through the menu and decided to have a roasted chicken burger . I have never seen that on a menu so I wanted to try that .

"Make it two , " Brendan said without even glancing at the menu.

"What? Why wouldn't you choose what you want ?" I asked him and he shrugged his shoulders at me .

"I am not someone who loves to eat . I just eat because I want it to survive . So I will eat anything basically as long as it tastes good . So I don't want to look at the menu and I will simply follow you , " he said scanning the surroundings again .

"We are in the human lands with no one who recognises us . Do you think we are still in danger though ? " I asked Brendan to which , he looked at me with another flat look.

The thing I understood about Brendan is that the more he gives me flat looks , the better his mood is . Because the usual Brendan is not like this . He is always acting like there was a stick up in his ass.

"Our car broke down closest to this place so pardon me if I find this suspicious . If it is purely coincidental , then it is fine but if it is not then it is necessary that we watch our back every now and then ," Brendan said and I rolled my eyes at him .

The waitress came with our burgers and it looked great . When they said roast chicken burger , they meant that instead of chicken patty , they went ahead and added the roast chicken pieces.

It came with a side of fries and water for free . I guess this is enough for both of us . I started eating it in silence as I looked at people around us .

There are couples , friends , families and even two people who are having an affair. Thanks to my werewolf senses I can actually hear the conversation better .

The woman was trying her best to convince her husband that she was out with the girls and the man was simply staring at her .

"What else would I do if I am not with my girl friends , Jacob ? I love you way too much that I keep telling my friends about you and here you are asking me if I am with Leon . Seriously ? I am beyond embarrassed in front of my friends so pardon me if I don't text you or call you back for a while ," she said before hanging the call up .

And wow what a performance that was . The guy over the phone might be thinking that he actually embarrassed his own wife in front of her girlfriends. As soon as the call was over , the woman then kissed the guy she was with .

I suppose he was Leon , the guy who her husband was worried about . Brendan and I exchanged glances trying our best not to be judgemental but I am judgemental to my very core . I judge people way too easily .

"And yet you hold a grudge against Brendan because he judged you based on your appearance a few weeks ago and rejected you , " My wolf said and I actually thought I blocked the b***h but clearly I did not !

So I blocked her now and focused on my food .

"My husband thinks I am with Leon but have no idea that I am with his best friend , " the lady then said before kissing the man again.

Both Brendan and I choked on the food we were eating and it took us a second to calm down but once we did , we laughed to ourselves .

What a clean soap Opera this lady is running all by herself! Her life must be so interesting and adventurous if this is how she is all the time .

Two more people joined us at the table and I was suddenly conscious of my movements. I blocked my wolf and made sure I was doing my best acting like I was a human .

"Oh please , Erika . You very well know what I meant , " the guy who sat with us said over the phone .

Please!!! Not another couple who is cheating on their respective partners!! What the heck is wrong with humans here.

"Please close the file and mail all of that to me before the weekend , and if not I am going to fire you . And don't come blaming me that I didn't warn you , " he said and I realised that he was talking to someone who works for him .

"I am sorry for the call . But you look lovely today , " the guy told the girl and she looked like she wanted to be anywhere in the world but not at this place .

"What would you have ? I heard the roast chicken burger is a classic hit here , " the man said and the girl nodded at him .

The guy went ahead and ordered it for both of them . He caught me staring at him and smiled at me . I smiled back at him and Brendan cleared his throat .

The girl then said she needed to use the rest room but she took her purse with her . That was how I realised that she wasn't going to come back.

But I didn't tell him just in case though. Minutes passed and the food arrived but the girl did not .

"I am sorry but she might have left already , " I told him to which he glanced at his watch and closed his eyes for a while .

"Just what I wanted for the day to be better , " he said in a sarcastic tone before pulling his phone out , typing something aggressively on it .

Brendan and I were done eating and Brendan went ahead to pay the bill so we could head out .

"Is he your boyfriend ? " The guy at our table asked me and I raised my eyebrows at him .

"Huh?" I asked him again and he tilted his head at Brendan who was talking about something to the waitress .

"That guy. Your boyfriend?" He asked me and I was already tired hearing about how Brendan was out of my league.

"Let me guess , he settled for less ? " I asked the guy to which he laughed , shaking his head at me .

"I was gonna say the opposite though . You are way out of his league and he might have saved a country in his previous life to get you ," he said .

And for the first time since we came here , I finally smiled genuinely . Wow .

"I was taken aback because everyone around us tells me that he looks too good and he settled for less , " I told him and he shook his head at me .

"What brings you here though ? " He asked me and I did not answer him .

Meanwhile Brendan came to me to tell me that he took care of things and we were good to go .

"Hey , " the guy called for me and handed me what looked like his visiting card .

"This is my card and you look like tourists . Do call me when you want a vehicle because I run a travel agency , " he said and I stared at Brendan , wide eyed.

Before Brendan could say something, I beat him to it and asked the guy.

"What do you mean by a travel agency , exactly?" I asked him and Brendan groaned just enough for my werewolf senses to hear and not the human senses .

"Well , I have an agency that provides our customers vehicles starting from bikes to cars , mini vans , caravans, buses and all . Are you not aware of how things work with a travel agency?" He asked me with confusion written on his face.

Well, I would know if I lived in a human territory but I did not.

"Well, we actually need a vehicle though. Our car broke down not too far from here and that was how we landed here . And this guy is indeed my boyfriend , " I told him as I held Brendan's hand and pulled him closer to me.

"Okay. Great. Do you want a car that can help you drop off at your destination or do you need a towing vehicle ?" He asked me again and I don't understand s**t about what he was saying.

So I handed the conversation over to Brendan who glared at me before taking over .

"What would help according to you ?" I asked him and he thought about it for a while.

"Well, I do have an idea. How about I give you a vehicle of mine so you can drive that to your destination. Meanwhile I tow the vehicle, repair everything and then hand it over to you and take back my vehicle?" He asked us back and honestly, that sounded great.

We can get to The Sundown Pack, and our car would get ready here meanwhile. But Brendan doesn't seem convinced though.

"If that's the case, then I have a condition," Brendan said making the guy raise his eyebrows in surprise.

"I want you to come with us. Just in case we don't know you are one of the fraudsters," Brendan said and I wish I could tell him how stupid his plan sounded.

But the guy with us sounded like that wasn't a problem at all.

"That's great. Tell me when and where to meet, I will be there. My name is Jacob , " the guy said as he gave me a handshake and then walked behind towards the table where the lady was kissing the guy .

Okay . Wait !!!

"Jacob!!" The woman almost screamed when she saw him and I just realised that he was the man on call from earlier .

Brendan and I were surprised and watched as the woman turned pale as a ghost.

"So much for being with girl friends huh , " he said and the lady was too stunned to speak .

"I am going to send you the divorce papers. Kindly sign them and send them back to me. Enjoy your evening, love birds," Jacob smiled at the couple and walked back towards us.

Wow. What a drama! What fun it is!! Now I really look forward to travelling with him so I can hear the story behind all of this.

Brendan gave him the address and we agreed to meet there first thing in the morning.
