Yasmyn's POV
My room is just the same. Nothing changed but it still looks neat and clean. Like my family made sure to keep it ready in case I want to move right back in.
Brendan is in the guest room and he promised Adi that he would stay till the coronation. I don't have any objections. He can stay back and watch what he missed while I soak myself up in the ego I have against him now.
I am supposed to take a quick shower and join everyone downstairs for dinner. But I don't feel like eating anything.
The situation here is ten times worse than what I thought, when Silas told me not to talk about the Royal affairs in the car.
Adi doesn't look great either. He is still okay but I can see his health is starting to go downhill too. Something here is seriously wrong and maybe I should focus on what is happening here, rather than what is going to happen to me.
I took a quick shower and walked downstairs to see everyone already waiting for me. Including Brendan. My heart skipped a beat when I saw him and I hated that fact. I don't want my body to react whenever he is around. That will probably doom me one day.
"Sorry. I'm late," I whispered and looked around.
It feels weird that I will be sitting in the head chair now. The one where my father always sat ever since I can remember.
I shoved down the lump in my throat and took the chair, letting a team of Omegas serve for all of us. Brendan's eyes were on his plate, carefully watching what he is being served and politely declining things he does not like. I wish I was this extroverted. But the most I can say is yes please. No problem.
"Okay. What did I miss, lil sis?" Selena asked, as she took a bite of her lamb sausage.
"Nothing much, Selena. But I have heard that you found your mate. Congratulations," I smiled at her.
"You cannot keep anything from her, can you?" She glared at Adi who simply shrugged his shoulders, having his porridge.
My heart tugs at the sight of what he is eating. Since his health is not usual, his diet and everything has changed. So for him to sit at a table with a feast being served and still having porridge.. it's not fair.
"Ryan is good. He understood the situation I am in and did not force me to get to his pack and be the Luna. I might reject him," Selena said.
Now that made spoons and forks clank in a violent way. Raul and Vernon exchanged glances probably asking each other if they knew about it.
In our sibling tree, Raul and Vernon are close to each other. Adi and I are close to each other. Selena was best friends with our mother honestly. So I can understand why she wants to stay here rather than leave.
But I don't understand why she wants to reject her mate though. She especially told us how great her mate was just a sentence ago.
"He is too good to be true. And I don't believe in anything that's perfect," she shook her head, taking a sip of her water from the glass.
"You are rejecting him because he is too good?" Brendan asked and my sister gave him a glare.
"I don't remember him being in our family tree. Do any of you know who he is?" Selena asked him even though she is familiar with Alpha Brendan Rivera.
Like I already said, he is the toughest competition Adi Lorraine will ever have. But Adi will beat him though. Maybe not now in this state but Adi is built differently. That's exactly why I cannot look at him now without my heart tugging.
"I accidentally rejected my mate just because she didn't look good enough. Now I regret it," Brendan said.
Adi's eyes went wide as he looked at me. Earlier he knew there was some kind of drama that happened between Brendan and me but didn't know what that drama was.
And now, he knows. That Alpha Brendan Rivera rejected me because I did not look good enough. He did add the point he regrets but I don't think he does though.
"How do you call it accidental if you rejected her?" Selena asked him with her eyebrow raised at him.
"I just took in her appearance. She wore clothes that someone below Omega would wear. And I found her washing dishes at one of the diners in my pack. And I am an Alpha. You do the math," Brendan shrugged as he continued to have his chopped salad.
"No you do the math. The girl might be washing dishes and preferring clothes that only the poor wear. But she is at least not begging or turning rogue just to skip the insults. She is a Queen in my opinion," Selena said.
That warmed my heart. She doesn't know that she is talking about her own sister. But the way she stood up really meant a lot to me.
Now I wonder why I wasn't close to her earlier.
"That's where I went wrong. And I deeply regret it now," Brendan said and his eyes met mine for a moment before Adi cleared his throat and raised his eyebrows at me.
His look is clear now. He wants to know the tea and he will, once I take a breath and process whatever is happening at the moment.
"You have a meeting scheduled with The Rogue King tomorrow, Yas. So make sure you wake up on time and get dressed. Nothing too formal. The team of maids will help you though," Adi said.
"Woah woah woah. I am not the Queen yet. Stop," I scoffed, standing up.
This is too much now.
"You are the future Queen now, Yasmyn. You gotta keep moving," Adi said but I know I can't.
"I'll be there with you," he said and even that didn't reassure me.
But like he said.. I gotta keep moving.
And Rogue King.?
Since when do Rogues have their Kings?
