1050 Words
- I sent them back home. - What? Why? I look at David. Why did he has to do such a thing? I was having fun with them. I wanted to spend more time with them, especially with Scoot. Why did he had to send them home? - It was suppose to be the place to be and they were anti-high schooler. - Anti high schooler? They weren't. They talked with me, they were nice. Why does he says such a thing? - I know what you think but they were the reason no one from your school were accepted up here. - But I was... - They were playing with you. Think about it. I have to admit, Yuty tried to make me drink. But Scoot was nice. He made sure it didn't happen. And we kissed. But... Why would a senior college student kiss a junior high school student? And what he said about costumes of high-schooler - They seemed not to like that much high-school, your right... Do you think they were playing? - I'm afraid they were, yes. Some tears arrive to my eyes and I turn around not to David to see them. - I'm gonna go back downstairs with Mary. - That's a good idea Ella. Once I'm back near Mary, I explain her what happened and she give me a hug while I'm crying. She finally look me in the eyes and smiles at me. - OK. It is hurtful but we're at a party so stop crying, think at something else and have fun. - I'll... I'll try. Mary puts a beer in my hands and smiles. - Don't tell me you don't want one. Zain told me you had one with him and the guys. Now drink. I sigh but take a sip. Mary put her arm around my shoulder and start walking. I follow her, I have no other choice, and we arrive in downstairs playing room. One hour ago, when I visited with David, it was a billard and baby-foot playing zone but now, half our school is in there watching someone sing. - While you were upstairs with the anti-high-school, Adelaide arrived with a karaoke kit. I reserved a spot, it should be my turn soon. I smile at her. Mary maybe love to sing but she's not such a good singer. Well... It's a karaoke so it's not such a problem. The three girls that were singing arrive to the end of their song and Adelaide looks at her list. She says, with a desesparate voice : - Mary Lloyd, your turn. I'm gonna take a drink, you'll take care of my spot when you're over, I count on you. My best friend accept and go to the karaoke zone. I'm just next to the door so I see Adelaide coming to where I am. I smile at her when she arrived and she ask me. - Do you wanna come take a drink with me? - I'd like to say yes and not have to listen to this but she's my best friend, she would hate me if she knew I didn't staid. - Good luck with that then. Do you want something? I don't have time to answer that I already have a beer, Adelaide is already gone. Mary started singing and I would like to do as Adelaide just did. Besides Adelaide, Thomas and myself, almost no one knew of awful was Mary at singing. Us four sometimes sang with Mary's karaoke machine at their house. We did it once with Mary and Thomas but decided not to do this again when we heard my best friend's voice for the first time. Unfortunately, from time to time, when Thomas and Mary left us, Adelaide and I decided to use her machine and didn't stopped before my best friend to come back in the room. She loves karaoke. Mary's song come at its end and She annonce that I'm the next person. A boy, senior year I think, refuse me to sing. - That's not fair. I was the next in line. You can't just put your best friend before anyone. - To late, I already putted her favorite song. I didn't wanted to sing in front of all these people. Why did Mary had to choose for me. - We don't want her to sing, It's Andrew's turn. The lyrics start to arrived and I don't start singing. My best friend, from the other side of the room, ask me to start singing and ends up singing, thinking it will make me start. It wouldn't usually but Adelaide arrive next to me. - I though her turn was over. - Come on Ella, it's your favorite song. Mary said it between two sentences. - It wasn't... - Suppose to be my turn? No but Mary want me to sing. - As the whole room. Indeed. The student that didn't wanted to hear me sing wanted Mary to stop and join to into asking me to sing. It would be better than what we're listening to. - I'd rather hear you too. Please, for me... I'll take care of your beer. I sigh and go to the karaoke machine while starting to sing. Mary stops singing and hands me the microphone. I take it, I don't wanna hear her sing any more lyrics. When I finish the song, everyone applause. I turn to the guy that it was suppose to be the turn of. - I think it's now your turn Andrew. - You've got an amazing voice. The list of people that wanna sing is pretty long but if you think you'll still be here Une one hour, put your name on the list please. - I'll sleep here, I'll still be there. Adelaide, back at her place, smile at the discussion and put my name on the list. She puts Andrew's song and smile at me. - I was going to put your name down anyway. - Do you wanna sing with me that time? - Don't you rather sing with your best friend? I turn around to see if Mary is near us but she's kissing Thomas in a corner of the room, she won't be able to hear me. - I think everyone rather hear you than her. Adelaide laugh a bit and point a glass on her desk, telling me it's my beer. I take it and take another sip.
