Gio breathed out the last puff of smoke, squeezed the cigarette under his shoe, and headed inside. There he found Lisa sitting on the bed, the towel grasped around her. Her hair was trickling wet, water beads following lines on the skin of her body. She gazed toward him, dread and disarray blended in her ready look. "Feeling improved?" Gio asked, milder than she had heard. "A bit," Lisa answered, wrapping the towel firmly around her body. "What simply occurred out there? Who was that? How could anybody assault us?" Lisa asked in one breath. Gio let out a weighty murmur, running a hand through his hair. "It's convoluted, Lisa. This world I'm in… it's hazardous. At times things like this occur."
