Mila’s POV
The safe haven was quiet, but the air was thick with strategy. Maps, terminals, and blueprints covered the table. Every detail of Eden’s facility had been traced — every hallway, security checkpoint, camera, and guard rotation. Yet, the higher levels remained obscured, encrypted, and untouchable.
Xavier leaned back in his chair, fingers drumming impatiently. “The higher the security, the fewer mistakes we can make. One slip, and Eden doesn’t just trace us… they terminate us.”
I nodded, eyes scanning the schematics. “Which means we need distractions, diversions, and a way to get past the biometric locks. If we can reach the core, we might uncover the leaders themselves… and maybe the truth about my father’s involvement.”
He raised a brow. “You ready to step into the lion’s den?”
I smirked faintly. “After everything we’ve survived? The lion won’t see me coming.”
Hours passed as we meticulously planned: timed movements, alternate routes, digital interference, even pre-recorded footage to fool the sensors. Every variable accounted for — every possibility considered.
Then, a hidden data file appeared on the terminal, unprompted. A single line of text flashed:
> SUBJECT ALERT: ACTIVE — HIGH PRIORITY — PROXIMITY DETECTED
My heart skipped. “Xavier… someone’s already inside.”
He leaned over the screen, eyes narrowing. “Inside Eden? Or… inside the safe house?”
I shook my head, jaw tightening. “Doesn’t matter. We don’t have much time. The infiltration starts tonight. If someone else reaches the core before us…”
He didn’t finish. We both understood the stakes. Eden wasn’t just experiments and clones anymore — it was a game of shadows, betrayal, and lives hanging by a thread.
I glanced at him, determination blazing. “Then we move. Every step calculated, every risk considered. No hesitation. High stakes, Xavier. If we fail…”
He met my gaze, voice low but firm. “We don’t fail. Not now. Not ever.”
> Tonight, Eden’s secrets will either be ours… or destroy us.
We packed, double-checked, and armed ourselves. Outside, the night was calm, deceptively silent, as if the city itself was holding its breath.
Inside, the hidden layers of Eden pulsed with danger, waiting for the storm we were about to bring.
And neither of us blinked. Neither of us hesitated.
> The infiltration begins now.
