22 THE BAND Woodstock’s band progressed. He and Rod were fired up after Live Aid and planned on working hard to be rock’n’roll stars. They composed music, lyrics and practiced non-stop. Carmen sang with a powerful voice. She belted out gut-wrenching sounds that sounded amazing coming from her petite frame. Woodstock found her to be so seductive when singing ballads. All the band members made the sound, but Woodstock, Rod and Carmen were the strength and the talent. Many nights after practice, when the rest of the band left, the three of them stayed in Kenny’s garage rehearsing and writing more music. Woodstock hated to stop practicing to go to school.
