I should have seen it coming.
I should have expected it. It was always bound to happen since I saw my mum smiling so brightly. It had been ages she had been that happy around anyone so I should have known she would take the chance and want to be that happy for the rest of her life.
But instead, I deluded myself into thinking it might just not work out. It might just be another fling and after a while, she’d come back to her senses.
