CHAPTER TWO:TASTE OF TEMPTATION

306 Words
Tim, heir to the Silverstone Mafia, sat in his office surrounded by the quiet hum of power. Papers lay scattered across his desk, yet his mind was elsewhere. Against his will, he found himself recalling the encounter at the restaurant — the delicate chef with defiant eyes. "Why am I remembering that man?" Tim clicked his tongue in irritation. “He was nothing but a flamboyant fool… yet courageous enough not to squirm in my presence.” The thought unsettled him. He despised weakness, and yet something about that chef’s free spirit gnawed at him. His reverie was broken by Victor, his trusted right hand. Victor entered with a tray, setting down lunch with the ease of a man who had long earned Tim’s confidence. Years ago, Victor had saved him during a brutal clash with the rival Optiven Mafia, and since then, their bond had been unshakable. “Don’t call me boss,” Tim reminded him curtly. “We share everything. ”Victor smirked, sliding the plate forward. Tim tasted the food — rich Italian cuisine, cooked to perfection. The flavors burst across his tongue, startling him.“Where did this come from?” Tim demanded.Victor hesitated, then answered, “Style’s and Love Restaurant.”Tim scoffed, a sharp laugh escaping. “What a ridiculous name for a restaurant.” Yet even as he mocked, curiosity flickered. Whoever had prepared this meal possessed undeniable skill. He wanted to see the chef — the “wonderful and stupid” man behind such brilliance. He rose, intent on leaving immediately, but his phone buzzed. The name flashing across the screen made him pause. Parn. His long‑term girlfriend. His first and only love. Tim gestured for Victor to leave as he answered the call, his voice softening in a way it never did for anyone else.
