I expected this moment to be the happiest moment in my life. But here I was staring at Venus' unconscious form.
My heart still hadn’t stopped pounding since she collapsed across my desk, eyes fluttering shut before I could even react. One second she was blinking at me with stunned disbelief, and the next, her entire body gave out.
"Venus!" I’d shouted, leaping forward, catching her before her head could hit the desk. "Venus, look at me! Wake up!"
