CHAPTER 22: MAXINE IS ATTACKED
MAXINE:
A hand gripped my shoulder and the voice that followed was unmistakable.
"You look like a piece of s**t, Maxine," came that familiar, smug voice. "Trouble in paradise?”
Draven.
He was surrounded by his guards and he thought that gave him the right to mock me.
I didn’t respond to his mockery. But my fist did.
I punched his face so hard his lips split and his head snapped to the side. He stumbled back, and snarled.
Blood ran down his lips, and his cheek turned red.
His guards immediately sprang forward.
"Kill him," Draven spat. "Right here. Right now."
I shifted before they did, but I was outnumbered. They didn't care that I was on home ground. They beat me, while I fought back like a true wolf.
But their claws and blows rained down on me
