CHAPTER 26: WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
VENUS:
Maxine's words made me lose my appetite. The pill had already done its worst and there's no reversing it except to wait for another of my heat periods.
But Maxine was acting as if I was already pregnant. So full of expectation and so sure of himself. I shivered at the thought of how he would react during my next period.
Sigh.
I didn't even want to get pregnant for him. I just have to find a way to escape. If I hadn't overheard him telling Olivia how he would have me discarded after giving birth, maybe I would've considered his offer.
But he makes promises to me but has ulterior motives.
I sat at the edge of the bed and picked up the remote control. I didn't even know how to operate the television but I knew I had to start trying. Living alone
