CHAPTER 64: THE FIRST SHIFT

Shortly after Maxine left, I slept off. It was peaceful and I had beautiful dreams of Maxine and I bonding.
And I don't know how long I slept but when I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was the warmth beside me. My heart skipped as I turned slightly and found Maxine lying next to me, still asleep.
His hair was tousled, and one arm draped casually across my waist. His breathing was steady and his lips slightly parted.
I blinked at the ceiling for a long moment, my thoughts jumbled. Had he really stayed the night? Here, in my room?
