I shivered as I sat down, rubbing the ache in my ankle. I was nervous and that seemed to be the only thing I could do at the moment.
Ray sat opposite me at the restaurant table, with his arms crossed, and his gaze sharp and unreadable.
"What happened to your foot?" he asked, as he narrowed his brows and glanced under the table.
I shrugged, trying to sound casual. "Nothing serious. Just a little accident at home."
He didn't look convinced. He leaned forward, and talked to me in a low but firm voice. "Venus, let’s not play games. Where’s the flash drive?"
My heart jumped in my chest. I looked down, pretending to fiddle with the napkin on my lap. "I lost it."
