Visibility is a currency.
Most people spend it carelessly, chasing attention without understanding the weight that follows. In my world, visibility is calculated, controlled, rationed. You do not allow others to measure you unless you are prepared for them to test the limits.
Seraphina had stepped into that light.
Not recklessly, not foolishly, but deliberately. That was what unsettled me. Recklessness I could correct. Deliberate action required respect.
And respect meant consequences would not be simple.
I noticed the shift immediately after the photograph arrived. Not panic, not chaos. Something subtler. Meetings that were once automatic required confirmation. Calls were returned a little slower. Eyes lingered longer when we entered a room together.
