“Alright, let's waste no time. Where is the contract?”
Heidi pulled it out of her tote bag and handed it to me. I narrowed my eyes on her briefly. My intention was to kind of ask why she wouldn't hand it to him herself. But I recognized the tension in the air and let it slide. I took it out of her grasp and gave it to him.
“Okay…light” He shook the booklet. The first page was flipped open. His reading glasses manifested out of literally thin air. It was like one second it wasn't there, the next moment it was on his face. He slowly lowered himself on the chair adjacent to myself and Heidi. I remembered the previous day when I made a mental plan to tell Heidi to forward a soft copy to him. So much for a mental plan…
