Sophie Barnes.
I turned up the TV noise. It was better than the thoughts in my head. And it helped.
Soon, I was asleep. Drifting along the sea. I had no idea what sea it was, but the boat I was on was devoid of any kind of hostility. Hell, it looked exotic even. I wondered why it seemed kind of dark till it occurred to me I was wearing sunglasses. That was my cue to take it off. As I did, I realized the captain steering the boat along the coast was no other than Julian.
His back muscles are tight, and the dip in the middle of his back tightly up to his neck, forming the opposite of a ridge in the most common sense. There he was, looking majestic with his beach shirt that would be found in any Walmart store for $5. It didn't matter, though. He made it look good.
Like he could tell I was thinking about him somehow, he turned around. That was when I noticed how gorgeous his hair was. It held my breath back for a second as I squinted my eyes past the heavy sun rays to stare at his hair. They were longer than I remember, still resembling some sort of mullet cut only that the sides still had hair, but they weren't as long as the back. Maybe it was a butterfly cut. I think that was it. It didn't matter, though. What mattered was that he looked damn majestic. I could lick the dip between his abs that lined up his chest apart. Each n****e brown patched. His body was pale but tanned. Really tanned, I was starting to think not all of it was the work of the sun but a good DNA mix on his lineage path.
“You are finally awake.” He finally spoke after forever of letting me devour his body in my head.
“I didn't know I fell asleep.” I said back to him, putting a hand over my face so I could watch his facial expression. It was no use, though. The sun had decided to double down his rays and block his face out.
“You did say the water made you kind of sick, and the only way to fight it was to force yourself to sleep or be really drunk.” He nudged his head towards my side. I discovered that a half empty bottle of vodka had been comfortably sitting beside me the whole time while I stared and wondered why my head felt funny.
“I can't tell which worked, but I am glad you are fine. It was kind of getting lonely for a bit. I really want us to have fun on our honeymoon.”
There was only one thing I could spot from where my hand shielded my face from the sun rays like I was talking to an angel from the Bible, and that was his pearl white teeth that he was glowing under the sun.
Why was he smiling? I wondered to myself. Then, my brain processed the rest of the information. Honeymoon??
“Wait, did you say honeymoon???” My head shut up to find Julian's face, only to be greeted with the face of a bastard. A con and someone I swore to never be involved with ever again. My ex, Giovanni Crawther. I was surprise he was here and not f*****g some model in an another continent in the name of proximity shoots.
“You f*****g b***h! How did you drag me out here? Did you drug me?!”
Vile hate filled my mouth and I wanted to spit on his perfect face, sparkling blue eyes and devilish smirk. I could see why I easily mistook him for Julian. They had the same build, though I think Julian would be taller than the cunning manipulator in front of me. His hands reached for my sides and I immediately coiled out of his reach range. I forgot I was on a boat and soon, I was submerged into the water after falling off the boat like a fool.
Falling off the boat meant falling off the couch in my living room.
That was when I heard my name being called loud and clear.
“What the hell are you doing on the floor??” Heidi asked me, her phone was in her hand and a video seemed to be playing as I watched the light dance on her palm.
“Did you scream my name?” I was pissed.
“I called you like a million times but you weren't answering.” She said, like it was not perfectly logical to not hear at your best when one was at sleep. I groaned in anger. I haven't been able to get a wink of a sleep since the previous night due to this damn meeting. I found a way to get past the anxiety to find sleep and now she had ruined it.
She clearly didn't catch that I was not in the mood for a chat because the next thing I knew was that she was pointing her bright phone screen light to my face. I hit it away instinctively, sending it sliding across the wooden floor. She gasped loudly.
“Sophie! What the actual f**k!” She stomped her foot on the wooden floor board in anger. I rolled my eyes, satisfied at the outcome. Now we were both in a state of displeasure.
It was only when Julian's voice started playing out loud from her phone that my attention and state of mind completely renewed itself. The sleep haze was gone. There was a short race between Heidi and I to get to her phone first. Of course I won. I was staring at her phone screen, gradually bringing myself to a standing position.
“s**t…he did the apology video.” I looked up to Heidi. She still had a pout on her face.
“He actually did the video…” I chuckled. I had judged him too quickly as someone who valued his ego over his lively means.
I guess I was wrong.
My phone began ringing out. I traced the sound to the back of a pillow on the couch. It was Alisha.
“He apologized.” I said, in a place of ‘hello’.
“Now, it is your turn. Post the bait. And you know what…let's make it spicy. Tag him. Do it now.”
