Chapter 3

Angelique

"HAPPY NEW YEAR." They chanted happily, sure new year was going great for them meanwhile I was about losing my life.

Just as I opened my mouth to speak a familiar voice came to me.

Relax you're not gonna die. She said with ease like as if there wasn't a gun highlighted on my forehead right now.

"Since you're not going to talk I'll take it that you're a reject, if there's one thing rejects have in common it's that you're all cowards."

Slowly a black pistol lifted off the ground and aimed at me, "have a safe trip to hell."

My eye lids became one as I resigned to my fate when a sweet scent came dancing at the bridge of my nostrils.

At first it was faint but with each passing second it became stronger. Mr alpha here was going to shoot me any second from now and my mate was close by I could feel it. If only he'd give me a few more minutes to say hi or bye but judging from the sadistic look on his face I could tell the gun would go off any moment.

In desperation I screamed out the words "wait!" He came to a pause and averted his gaze in the other direction.

My sight was poor but I could sense him, my mate he was here now. His presence provided a sense of security.

I wasn't the one who made dear alpha come to a stop, it was him. We both yelled wait at the same time but the masculinity of his tone made me sound a broken record.

With each rising stride quickened the pace of my heartbeat even though my vision was blurry I could almost paint a picture of what he looked like based on what I perceived and one thing's for sure he was definitely drop dead gorgeous.

"Roman." The name rolled off Mr alpha's tongue like a taboo almost as if he was displeased to see him.

"Father." Said Roman in an equally displeased tone.

"Why are you here? Don't you have an engagement party to prepare for."

Engagement what? I blinked blown away by this newly discovered information. Although my consiousness was fading away my mouth was itching to join in their on conversation just before I passed out I wanted to know if coming here was a mistake.

"I'm afraid I will no longer be getting engaged." He announced calming my troubled soul.

That's a relief.

"That's not up to you to decide." Alpha brushed it aside and graced me with his attention once more causing a shrill to travel down my spine. "Now run along little boy I have important matters to tend to."

Slowly the gun left the ground where it was faced pointing in my direction. I was going to say my last prayers when my view got blocked it took two confused blinks to realize that was my mate shielding me from his father's wrath.

"What do you think you're doing." Questioned mate's father.

Oh he sounded angry.

"You can't kill this one."

"And who are you to dictate to me who I can and can't kill? Who's the alpha here huh."

I was latched to the ground like iron on a magnet watching them debate my life or death when a warm fabric came in contact with my exposed skin covering me up. Slowly my eyes trailed up and they were met with a pair of forest green eyes for a minute we stayed stuck staring into each other's eyes.

He soon tore away from my gaze rising to his feet as he faced his father.

"I said you are not allowed to kill this one father." He said in an even fiercer tone almost growling.

"She's my mate. "

Roman's huge figure serving as a shield ahead me prevented me from seeing Mr alpha but the twisted laughter he let out after hearing the word mate told me that this was far from over.

"Mate you say, that's the very more reason for her to die. Remember your real mate is still waiting."

"Father!"

"Roman!"

"Step aside." He commanded in alpha tone but Roman did not budge. I could feel the anger radiating off his body, he was ready to fight his father, I could feel his wolf begging to be let out.

This mate was better than the one I had imagined previously. If I died now I'd probably leave with no regrets.

"For the last time Roman step aside."

"You'd have to shoot me first."

That was the last thing I heard before my world turned pitch black.
