Inside my tent, the guards' shouts mixed with Callum's roars. His rut scent pushed through the canvas until the herbs hanging above my cot could no longer cover it. Jars rattled on the medicine shelf each time his body struck the ground outside. I tied a cloth over my nose and checked the ward at every seam. A healer's scent could ease a bonded wolf during a normal rut. With the tie already loosening, mine only made Callum fight harder to reach me. I opened a narrow gap in the flap.
