2016 As I heard the front Door close, I ignored Kendra and bolted out the kitchen, Running up the stairs to my bedroom. I pulled off my shoes and dived excitedly to my bed. Using a pillow to cover my face, I screeched and wiggled around the bed. "He was staying here" . We would share the same house, I would get to see him everyday, us, close together, even if it was only for a few days, he'll be in my periphery. My usual apprehension suddenly reared its ugly head. Sitting up I recalled that he rarely interacted with me and always made it a point to avoid me, ever since we were children. He' d been fourteen years old when I'd first met him. Naively I had expectations of him being an elder brother, after growing up alone for most of my childhood. So I followed him around every chance I possibly could, Always cheerful, never getting hurt whenever he'd rejected my efforts at being close to him. He always kept a distance between us; so I somehow became obsessed in getting his attention, becoming focused in using all my might to get him to like me; To accept me, to approve of me. In turn, He never failed to show his disdain towards my mother and I. After Mareu's conquest. America became an Abian colony. The invaders were slowly spreading fast conquering territories across europe and asia. Worried for their safety admist a war they definitely couldn't win again superhumans with impossible abilities. The World's leaders and richest economies of countries in Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa sent emissaries to sue for peace. Seeing as how easily and swiftly their counterparts fell. They set up committees and invited better trade relations to appease the monarch. This caused Abian to become the new world power; Economically, financially, technologically and so on. Everything was truly going well until Mareu increasingly became extremely volatile as decades passed on. The older he became, his health disintegrated and he slowly became too unstable to rule. He died from a cardiac arrest caused by a blood infection after a prolonged illness. The royal houses fell into chaos and a vicious civil war ensued. The elites seizing the opportunity reinstalled the last bloodline of the purebloods after Mareu's demise, favouring his lastborn son, Bom; whom he had conceived with a descendent princess. The new king, signalled a new era of peace and withdrew his forces. Striking a deal with world leaders, he agreed to continue trading and sent his children abroad for their education. A peace accord was struck and the young citizens of Abian attended schools in the west in exchange programs. The once isolated country became a global village. The Beautiful princess, Asma was a female suffocated by the life of an average royal. The first chance she had, she moved to Europe to attend schoos. Free from her father's domineering presence, She wasn't interested in the running of the kingdom. Her half- brother had succeeded as the king, although he hadn't any heirs then. She hoped for a successful reign. She loved the attraction of the west and the strange people of the east. With their strange customs and lilthing speech patterns. It amused her. How in awe they seemed of her and her beauty. She promptly became, a hot topic , a trend, afterall she waa a princess from a foreign land filled with intrigue and so more power. She had gorgeous features. Tall with long black hair and silver eyes. She looked like a mix between an elf and an sss fighter. Long limbed and a dewy complexion. She followed her convictions and believed she was made for greatness. While Attending school in Sweden, She fell in love with a stoic wealthy young man who loved her desperately. He treated her with reverence. Madly in love, she chose to abdicate her title and move to the USA, following her new husband to live a respectable new life. Her husband had inherited the title of the baron right from a young age. He had been raised in gentility. They made such a beautiful wealthy couple. Both descendants of royalty, and together, they produced a beautiful son, Devilin Delta Granger. Unfortunately for their happy little family, Years of inbreeding had corrupted Asma's bloodline making her succeptible to a degenerative blood disease that manifested in several ways; her father's madness, her brother, the kings' sterility , and then her eventual death by blood poisoning. The widowed young Baron Granger withdrew from society after having no choice but to raise his child alone, but unable to properly manage after losing his wife. He delegated the young boy's welfare to expensive private schools and refused to remarry. That is, until he met a stunning social climbing blonde with a young daughter; whom had gained enough stardom at that point, to be allowed into high class functions. My mother had had him in the palm of her hand right from the first moment they met. Both having the shared experience of raising children alone at young ages, after the traumatic death of their spouses. After a whirlwind courtship, they became husband and wife, four months to their first meeting to the chagrin of both their children. I suddenly was thrust back to the world of European elitism and old money. The marriage was met with a lot of criticism of course. My trailer trash mother had been deemed not up to par to some. But others were impressed with her ability to successfully marry such a man. His father was practically untouchable. With his vast network of wealth and connections. He had mantained a huge conglomerate. His company exclusively supplied the world with the Drra crystals. A rare mineral only found in Abian. It was an amplifier of energy and was used in new technology and inofcourse to make weapons. A powerful man, he was building an empire for his only son and heir to take over. Devlin, being distant, and hearing such sudden news from his father about his new bride, after being left isolated in English boarding schools, most of his life, had probably felt betrayed by the union. Devlin Delta looked like a prince straight from a fairytale or in my case, a dark Grimm's brothers book. He was extremely attractive snd stood tall with impeccable manners. He spoke eloquently and was a picture of civility. But he had a dark aura around him. Power pulsed barely restrained, swimming underneath his skin. His gentility an obvious mask to hide how dangerous he potentially was. His eyes glittered blue, glacial and always swirling with energy that streaked purple, like lightening clashing, fighting in their depths. Since his mother's death, the world took morbid interst in the half hybrid princeling whom had obviously inherited his mother's powers. That was the main reason he had been Raised privately away from the public eye, to prevent any malicious attacks and to keep him free from any influence from conniving Abian elites; whom had began a bloody clan tussles, in other to install their own candidates as a heir to succeed their King Bom on the throne. Due to my career at that time, I constantly had to travel, so we rarely ran each other. Choosing to stay out of each others way. He eventually had gotten across to me that he would not be interested in any sort of close sibling relationship with me. I didn't exist in his world and had to respect his boundaries. It was fine by me for the most part, as confrontations with him made me extremely anxious. So I'd decided I needed to avoid him as he spoke always with a harsh heated look in his eyes whenever I tried to get close. It wasn't easy though, something about him was magnetic. The whole world loved him. He was beautiful, with elegant features that he'd inherited from his mother. Wealthy and the last heir to the original pure bloodline of the outworlders. His mother's death and eventual uncle's death would secure a lineage as a prince and possibly the next King of Abian and all Her colonies. So, world waited with bated breath for his eventual rise to power, as he'd come of the right age, leave the western world and ascend the throne of the most powerful kingdom in the world.
