Elizabeth gently patted Chloe's hand and reassured her, "Don't worry about me. Now that I've decided to seek vengeance, I'm not afraid of anyone. This fight will definitely end in my victory."
Chloe hugged her tightly and responded, "Elizabeth, no matter what happens, we're always by your side. Don't bear everything alone. We can help you."
"I got it. Let's hurry back now."
"Okay!"
After they both got into their own cars, they went their separate ways.
When Elizabeth got home and was about to go upstairs, she realized someone was following her.
She hurriedly quickened her pace and took out her phone, intending to call Alexander.
But before Elizabeth could make the call, the person forcefully grabbed her hand, causing her phone to slip from her grasp and fall to the ground. The person then pinned her against the wall.
Upon seeing that it was William, she breathed a sigh of relief.
William disdainfully looked at Elizabeth and sneered, "You already have so many men wrapped around your finger. Don't tell me you are actually afraid now.
Or is it that, after doing so many shameful things, you're scared of the karma catching up to you?"
Elizabeth then smiled mockingly as she retorted, "Aren't you also afraid now, Mr. Dickens? You feel the need to pin me against the wall every time we meet. Isn't that because you're scared of what I might do to you?
What's the matter, Mr. Dickens? You haven't forgotten me, have you? After three years, I'm still on your mind, and you've come here now to try to rekindle what we had?"
William's eyes narrowed as he stared at her, and after a long pause, he slowly said, "You're such a bitch."
Elizabeth had thought she had become immune to such words, but at that moment, she was still hurt by him, the pain so intense that she couldn't catch her breath.
She snapped, "Yes, I may be a b***h, but I'm still better than someone who has been cheated on countless times."
William's gaze then turned intense at her words.
Elizabeth sarcastically remarked, "As I said before, Mr. Dickens, if you want to sleep with me, you have to play by my rules. Otherwise..."
Before she could finish her sentence, William suddenly kissed her.
Elizabeth instinctively tried to dodge him, but his lips found her neck instead.
William didn't pull away but bit down hard on her neck instead.
The pain made Elizabeth instinctively bite her lip, yet she stubbornly didn't let out a single cry of pain.
Afterward, William let go of Elizabeth, looked at his masterpiece, and suddenly smirked. "It looks like you've put in a lot of effort in bed to make the York family's second heir stand up for you. But I wonder how he would react if he saw another man's mark on you."
"That's none of your concern, Mr. Dickens. You should focus on your fiancée instead. After all, with how things are now, it will be difficult for her to marry you," she replied.
William snorted coldly, "Do you really think doing this will make me suffer? She's just a woman. If I lose her, so be it!"
Elizabeth also narrowed her eyes, wondering if he had thought the same when she left.
She then laughed at herself. If he had truly loved her back then, how could he have done what he did?
Elizabeth asked, her tone filled with contempt, "I'm actually curious, Mr. Dickens. What are you doing here now? To catch up with me?"
William's deep-set eyes were constantly scrutinizing her. "My grandpa wants me to bring you back to apologize to them."
"Apologize? As if he deserves it," Elizabeth scoffed.
Her disdain hinted at something deeper, suggesting that there was more to their history.
In fact, at Byron's birthday party, Byron himself had noticed Elizabeth, which greatly surprised William. From what he remembered, Elizabeth had never even met his grandfather before.
William curiously asked, "When did you and my grandfather meet?"
"You know nothing, Mr. Dickens. And frankly, you don't need to know anything!" Elizabeth replied, sounding tired as if the question had drained her. "I'm tired and I want to go rest now. Please move aside!"
Her tone in the last sentence was decisive, showing no room for compromise.
Elizabeth then shoved William aside and made her way to the elevator.
As he walked out, he called his assistant, Lucas, and ordered, "Find out everything that happened with Elizabeth during her time in Flerton!"
Lucas, of course, knew about what happened those years. Though he wasn't directly involved, he had heard about them. Confused, he asked, "Mr. Dickens, weren't you with Ms. York during her time in Flerton?"
"Cut out the small talk and just do as I said!"
"Got it!"
When the big boss got angry, he wasn't someone you wanted to mess with. So, Lucas promptly ended the call and dove straight into the investigation.
On the following day, as Elizabeth stepped out of her apartment door, a slap came directly at her. She didn't even have time to dodge and took the slap head-on.
The person yelled, "You b***h! You should have stayed gone and never come back! Now that you're back, you shouldn't be doing these things!"
That person was Mila, the very person Elizabeth sought revenge on in the end.
Instead of retorting, Elizabeth slapped her back. "This is what you owed me back then!"
Mila hadn't expected that Elizabeth would retaliate and looked at her with disbelief. "How dare you slap me, Elizabeth?!"
"Not only do I dare to slap you, but I also dare to kick you!" Elizabeth declared as she kicked Mila. "Mila, given how you treated me in the past, you should have expected that one day I would confront you!"
Being kicked like that was uncomfortable for Mila. Just as she was about to approach, Elizabeth warned, "Mrs. Dickens, this is my territory. If you dare to lay even a finger on me, I'll call security."
Mila couldn't afford to appear so embarrassed and instead tried to calm herself down. "I know what you want. So, tell me. How much money will it take for you to leave?"
"Money?" Elizabeth scoffed. "Back then, you gave me money and forced me to leave. Now you want to use the same tactic against me?"
Mila sneered, "Elizabeth, don't forget, you were originally a poor nobody. Do you think sleeping with a few men and getting some money from them makes you rich? The truth is, you've only gotten this far because of your looks. Instead of constantly selling your body, why not take some money from me now and live comfortably for the rest of your life? But if you don't know what's good for you..."
Her words trailed off, but even so, the threat was already crystal clear.
Elizabeth looked disdainfully at Mila. "And what if I don't know what's good for me? Are you going to drive me out of Yougvan City?"
"Getting rid of you would be a piece of cake!" Mila asserted.
Elizabeth smirked. "Then go ahead and try! I'd love to see how you plan to drive me out of Yougvan City this time!"
With that, she started to walk around Mila to leave.
Mila hadn't expected Elizabeth to be so bold now and snapped, "Elizabeth, don't think that just because you have the York family backing you, you can do whatever you want. If you're really so capable, don't come to William. Go after the York family's first heir. If you can marry Mr. York and become part of the York family, then I'll admit you are some real deal."
