Byron's face darkened. "William, what are you implying? How can you defend someone outside our family when we're in turmoil? Don't you recognize who's to blame here?"
"Who's to blame?" William repeated. "It's me, of course. I shouldn't have fallen in love with Elizabeth and dragged our family into such a mess. It's all on me!"
But it seemed like his words had fallen on deaf ears. Byron didn't really care about what he had said and announced directly, "In that case, call Elizabeth and ask her to apologize and cancel the news. If she does that, I can promise her to withdraw the previous news."
At this point, he still didn't realize the seriousness of the problem.
