“It doesn’t matter,” Aurora told him after he came back out of the bathroom. “No?” he asked, and she shook her head. “No.” “Why not?” He seemed genuinely interested in her answer. “Because I’m not in love with him,” she replied honestly. The silence in the room was full of unasked questions, and Matteo clearly struggled not to ask them. Watching him put himself behind her needs and being honest with her, even though he knew that it could potentially hurt him, just made her fall for him even more.
