It was five o’clock in the morning, but they all couldn’t sleep. After not finding Aurora in her room, they walked back outside, the same way they’d come in, placed the sleeping guards on their chairs to make it seem they were just lazy, and closed the door behind them.
Matteo sat on the couch, his face buried in his hands, wondering if this was all just a bad dream and he would wake up any minute now.
“How could she just have disappeared?” Sandra asked, but nobody answered.
“We should have searched in other places,” Matteo repeated what he’d already told them in Aurora’s room, but just like earlier, Leandro shook his head.
“We can’t just search the entire castle, it’s too dangerous,” he argued.
“Then we should have searched the cells, at least!” Matteo insisted.
