"Close is relative." He scrunched his nose. "When I was young I had two sets of friends. The people I actually liked hanging out with. The ones whose company I enjoyed. The other was the people my mother thought I should hang out with. Those who were of high status or had bright futures. Usually, they didn't overlap. Just on big events like my birthday. I got to invite my real friends and my mother invited my fake ones."
