Destroyer

EPISODE 15- INFORMATION

We have arrived at the Pseudo Plains, upon arriving at the plains, we were immediately told to set up camp. One of the carriages was giving tents to the adventurers. The tents they gave were made of linen and was too small to even fit me.

As I look at the tent given to me I immediately spoke to myself, “Good thing I don't need any sleep.” I then noticed the time on the upper right corner of my heads up display, the time currently was still eleven in the morning.

Not doing anything kinda made me bored, I wasn't able to set up any tent so I had nothing to do. With that, I tried to look at my surroundings and noticed that the place was quite refreshing. Too bad I can't feel it right now, the green grassy ground, the smooth breeze of wind, and the sweet smell of flowers that are just meters away from me.

This was my ideal place to set up my retirement home. I then laid down on the ground and gazed upon the bright scortching sun, only to be empty with the senses I wanted to feel. How disappointing, so I immediately stood up and went to Ann Marie.

Ann Marie and the girl with her had set up their tent in the middle of the camp. I also heard that Ann Marie was giving various tasked to different adventurers. When I was going to Ann Marie's tent, I stumble upon a big white tent. The tent had no doors and the inside was very visible.

Inside the tent were beds being arranged, I also saw tables and crates of boxes being brought inside. I stayed outside of the white tent and saw a familiar face. It was Marcia who noticed me as she waved at me. She seems to be talking to some girl, Marcia then runs towards my direction after she spoke to the girl.

Marcia then greeted me, “Hello Mr. Destroyer, have you set up your tent.”

“I don't need it, but what is this tent?” I then gazed at the huge white tent. Marcia happily replied my question.

“This is the emergency tent where we will treat any injured adventurers. It's sad that I have been put here even I wanted to fight on the battlefield.”

“Why is that Marcia?”

“Well, they told us that on D to B class healers are allowed to be on the battlefield. While the lower class will stay here and help the heavily injured ones, that cannot continue to fight.”

“I see, but who are those people, I haven't seen them in the guild.” I then pointed at the other people inside the tent, who were all quite young, I would say the same age as Marcia?

Marcia answered my questions again, “Silly Mr. Destroyer, haven't you remembered we were joined by other guilds from other towns.”

I look at Marcia and spoke with an embarrassed tone, “Aah, I remember now, it was said by Ann Marie before. How could I forget such an important detail”

“Its okay Mr. Destroyer, but may I ask where you are going?”

“I'm going to Ann Marie's tent, why do you ask?”

“Great! Then may you bring this to Karl, I forgot to give this to him before we departed from each other in the carriage.”

“Ok,” I then received a lunch box from Marcia, it was still hot according to my sensor. Damn Karl! I'm so jealous!

“Please be sure to give that to him Mr. Destroyer, as I made it with all my love and affection for Karl.”

Damn! I want to destroy the lunch box, they will surely know why I am called Mr. Destroyer after I obliterate this lunch box! Bwahahaha!

“Uhm, Mr. Destroyer is something wrong?”

“Uhh, N-nothing!”

“Ok, thank you again, Mr. Destoyer.”

After that, I immediately left the white tent and headed towards Ann Marie's tent, also I have a delivery to do now. While I was walking, I noticed other adventurers looking at me weirdly.

Most of them are adventurers from other towns, I don't know if they are looking at my physical appearance or my pendant which represents an F class adventurers.

I then pass by Karl's tent, which was already set up. And to my surprise, David was just next to him, but David's tent was not even ten percent set up. I then went to Karl who was helping David to set up his tent.

“Hey Karl!”

Karl immediately turned around to face me and spoke, ”Oh! Mr. Destroyer do you need something? ”

“Nah, I just came here to deliver something…”

As I was talking to Karl, David immediately spoke, “Something smells good from that box Mr. Destroyer, how nice of you to bring me lunch.”

David then reach his arms which I immediately slapped with my iron hands, which caused his arms to become red. I immediately went to Karl and gave him the box.

“Here's a lunch box prepared by Marcia, also she said to me to tell you these.”

I then cleared my electronic voice box to create a Marcia impression, “Please enjoy something I had prepared for you darling, I made it with love and affection. So you should better eat it like a pig. ”

Karl looked at me and spoke, “You made the last one up, didn't you? ”

Shit! He caught me making that one up, guess I have to apologize, “Sorr….”

“Just tell her my thanks Mr. Destroyer, and please also tell her that I love her.”

“Alright, but I have to get going now.”

After that, I continued to my journey towards Ann Marie's tent. After five minutes of walking, I was able to finally arrive at Ann Marie's tent.

Upon arriving, I immediately saw Ann Marie with the black-haired girl she was with in the town square. I went straight to Ann Marie who seems to also notice me.

When I got close to Ann Marie she immediately asked me, “What is your business here Mr. Destroyer?”

“Well, I was thinking if I could be the night watch for tonight. Also, I am bored and I am hoping for a chore that you want to give me. ”

“Have you finished setting up your tent?” asked Ann Marie as she raised her left eyebrow.

“No I haven't, but I wouldn't need any sleep.”

“Are you sure about that Mr. Destroyer? ”

“Yes, I am very confident that I don't need any sleep, plus I also have a skill which allows me to scout long distances. So I would definitely be a great choice for a lookout tonight.”

As we were talking, eight men wearing black mantles arrived. Ann Marie looked at them and greeted them with open arms.

“Welcome! I did not expect you guys to arrive this early!”

I was quite intrigued by the eight people that arrived, so I asked the other girl with Ann Marie.

“Uhm, miss who are they?”

The woman smiled at me and answered my questions, “They are the scouts of the guild and the kingdom.”

I then remember that Ann Marie was talking about some scouts were observing the monsters. I guess it was reasonable for them to come here after observing the beast. After a few moments, Ann Marie went back to us.

She then asked me if I was still willing to do a chore as I asked before. “Hey, Mr. Destroyer, you asked about me tasking you with a chore, are you still willing? I actually have something that I would like to task you.”

“Yeah, so what do you need me to do?”

“I want you to hunt food for our scouts, that's what they want. There's also a river near here, maybe you can also catch some fish if you can. ”

“Sure, I'll be going then.”

This is better than standing all alone, at least I can do something. As I was walking out of the camp, an old man suddenly approached me. It was the same old man I met in the carriage.

I immediately asked him, “What do you want old man? ”

The old man replied to me after he let out a sigh, “Well I was getting bored with my party, so I thought I might join you in your mini-adventure.”

“You are free to do what you want old man.”

After saying those words, the old man immediately followed me and started a conversation with me.

“So young man, how long have you been an adventurer?”

“Just recently, three days ago maybe.”

“I see, then are you planning to continue the path of an adventurer?”

“I don't know, but I see it as something that could lead me to my goals.”

Wait why am I wasting my time answering this old man, I should be the one asking him some questions. Especially when he was able to see through Xyra's appraisal skill. I must use this opportunity to gain some valuable information from this man.

“Hey old man, how were you able to know that this thing on my back and waist are weapons?”

“Wait they aren't!?”

“Don't play dumb with me old man, I know you are hiding something from me. Just tell me or…”

“Or what young man? You're going to beat up a poor helpless elder like me?”

“Nothing about you says helpless, but please old man Razor, just tell me something. ”

“Well since you said please I am starting to pity you.”

“So you are going to tell me about some of your knowledge about my weapons. Oh, thank you wise one.”

“You know flattery can't still give you more information, but I'll make an exception for you. ”

“Then you'll tell me what I want to know?”

“Yeah! But after we finish this mission that Ann Marie has given to you.”

The old man's reply kinda made me disappointed but I guess that's a start. But I guess it's a good start in gathering the first info.

I and old man Razor immediately wandered into the forest just near the Pseudo Plains. We immediately hunted for a red boar, which is very common in this forest according to old man Razor.

Upon entering the forest, we were immediately able to find the boar, which seems to be feeding on wild grass. The boar was about three feet in height and seems to weigh more than a hundred kilos. It had a bright red color skin, I think that is the only difference it has with a regular boar.

I then pulled my rifle and aimed at the boar and set it to semi-automatic mode. I then used my skill snipe to hit the boar. The old man, on the other hand, looked at my rifle with fascination and intrigue.

*Bang* With one shot I was able to kill the boar, I immediately grabbed it and carried it on my shoulder. We then went to the next mission, getting fishes, so we went to the river near the forest.

Upon arriving at the riverbank, I was able to see clear clean water of a river. It was quite strange to me as I was used to rivers with murky water and garbage floating around, but this one I was able to see fishes clearly underwater. I then brought the boar I was carrying to the river and cleaned it, while the old man started to use electricity to capture fishes.

Within half an hour the old man was able to capture a bucket full of freshwater fishes. After that, we headed straight back to the camp, but upon arriving we were shocked by what we saw.

The camp was now surrounded by tall walls made of dirt and a moat was created around it. We then saw people above the dirt wall using water magic and filled the moats with water. We then went to the only entrance in our direction which was a bridge made from dirt.

We then went straight to Ann Marie's tent to deliver the captured boar and fishes. After delivering the prey we captured, I immediately went to my position as the night watch.

I was put above the dirt wall only with a chair made of dirt and a torch flickering beside me. Two hours passed, the old man arrived and brought two bowls of food.

He then sat down beside me and asked, “Can I have your share, as this old man cannot satisfy himself with a single bowl of porridge.”

“Do whatever you want old man, I am not hungry at all.”

“Not hungry at all or you just don't have a body at all?”

“Wait don't tell me you..”

“I know from the beginning young man, as the electricity inside that armor is too much for a human being to survive.”

“Wait, you're able to see the electricity inside me?”

“Yes, by using a certain skill, also didn't I tell you that I was gonna share to you what I know about you.”

“Yes, please tell me what you know about me.”

The old man emptied the bowl of porridge before he spoke. “Well young this starts long ago if I remember forty years ago, I was still a young handsome twenty-year-old man. I was so handsome that all female adventurers become magnetized to me, I was even able to create my own harem, but I choose my career as an adventurer than my harem. ”

“Can you believe that women are willing to follow me. Even elves who are prideful women fell for me because of my handsome look before. I even slept with more than a thousand women during that time. All the male adventurers were so jealous of me. Can you belie…”

“Will you just get to the part about me, and not your harem. ”

“But I got some juicy stories to tell you with all the women I slept with, young man.”

“I don't care about that, just tell me your knowledge about my weapons or me.”

“Fine, it was forty years ago, I accepted a quest with my original adventurer party. This quest was quite strange as it took us to another continent of this world, it was a bodyguard quest for a group of researchers. If I remember correctly, it was the Vulcan Kingdom's researcher that hired us. ”

“When we arrived at the continent we were greeted by beast-men who inhibits that continent now. They then brought us along with the researches to an ancient ruin, it was a ruin of a powerful Empire that existed before.”

“The ruins were filled with immense energy that could easily kill anything exposed to it. We do not know what is this energy, but it can peel your skin off if you're exposed to it for too long. The researchers also noticed something on the ruins, it was engravings of some ancient language. Then there, I saw the familiar engraving that kinda resembles your figure young man.”

“Wait how does that resemble me?”

“It does resemble you young man, and it was not only one young man but an entire army of your figure was engraved on the wall. It seems to be depicting a battle between the Empire and God. That's what I understood of the engraving, but if you want more information then go west and go to the Vulcan Kingdom, as the researches that hired us have a better understanding of what the engravings truly projects.”

“But I cannot assure you if they are still alive, but I am pretty sure you can find the answers to some of your questions. That weapon of yours, I have seen it in the ruin but the researchers took it, but I think it was too destroyed when they found it. ”

After hearing the old man, I immediately thought that I have finally found one piece of the puzzle, that could lead to what my mission truly was. Then I have decided that I should go to the Vulcan Kingdom to track down these researchers.

After that talk, the old man left me and I continue on my night watch duties, as tomorrow one of the most powerful enemies that I will face yet will arrive.
