Walking back to Raven’s was tiring. Back when jogging every day was a priority, Alissa had sparked with energy and could have run circles around town barely breaking a sweat. A few weeks of laziness had zapped her—or maybe it was the lack of quality sleep coupled with the loss of appetite.
“Hey, come here,” Zach shouted from over the road.
“Were you following me?” Alissa asked.
Zach raised his eyebrows in disgust at the insinuation, “Not everything is about you, you realise that, right? Other people have lives too—”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Alissa sighed and rolled her eyes. This speech was nothing new but explaining away her tendency to be self-absorbed didn’t take precedence. There were bigger issues to deal with.
