Rise From the Ashes

It’s so hot. My body feels like it’s covered in flames. I’m going to burn to death. I’m going to die. I don’t want to die. I just found my second chance! I can’t burn to death. Oh my Goddess, what is happening!     Would you just shut the f**k up and listen for five minutes? Lynna yelled at me in her booming voice. I stopped babbling in my head and waited.      You are not going to die. You will flourish when you awaken. Rise from the ashes and concur the world. I am not the only one inside you.      Not the only one inside me? What the hell is happening?      I felt my body start on fire. I was covered in flames but I couldn’t move. I was trapped inside my head. My skin peeled and blistered in the magical flames. Before the pain became too much, it stopped. I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital room. I looked around curiously and met the eyes of a cute stranger who looked back completely horrified. She was scared. Actually, she was terrified.      I looked down and was covered in ashes, completely naked. The bed around me was charred and black. I heard rustling and turned my head to meet those summer green eyes that I have already fallen in love with. Great, I thought to myself. Now he’s seeing me naked.      Another man ran in shortly behind him, breathing heavily. I reached around me for something to cover up with, but everything within five feet of my body was char and ash. The terrified woman in the corner threw a sheet at me. I quickly wrapped myself up in the soft cotton fabric while still locking eyes with the gorgeous man in front of me.      I was the first to break the trance.      I moved my legs to the side of the bed. My skin felt unusual. It was tight but soft. A soft glow covered every inch of my body, hot and pink. Almost as if I was still on fire on the inside.       Rustling to my right made my head jerk up. Nick and Harmon were staring at me like I had six heads. “What are you staring at?” I asked with annoyance.      Nick shuffled over to me. He walked around to the other side of the bed and gaped at my back. He reached up as if he was going to touch me then hesitated. I looked over my right shoulder at him, giving him the slightest nod, oblivious.      He wiped away ash that I hadn’t realized was still littering my shoulders and upper back. His eyes widened even more. Harmon had stalked over and was gazing at my back in much the same way Nick was.      Before I could ask them what the hell they were looking at, Marsi burst in.      “Harmon! You’re really looking at another woman? What is wrong with you!” She slapped him on the arm then my back caught her eye. “Oh my Goddess!” she yelped.      I had three people staring at my naked back, what the f**k?      “Would anyone mind telling me what is going on?” I questioned. A figure in the doorway caught my eye. Great. I thought. More people to see my naked skin.      “I thought they were all dead,” the woman whispered.      “Who?” Nick asked her.      “The Redwood’s”
