Chapter 20: The Tragedy that Awaits

1262 Words
Inside the CEO’s office of the main branch of SD Ventures, Samantha was sitting alone in her office couch, thinking deeply as she sips on her cup of Jasmine tea. She just got back from a business conference in Singapore, and did successful deals for her business, both legal and illegal. She was so elated with the success that she had the luxury to celebrate it alone, just like the way she likes it. In this world, she trusts no one. Thus, she manages her business alone. And if she succeeds, she celebrates it alone as well. Because for her, money is the only thing she can trust. Why? Simply because money don’t betray. People? They do. Always. Samantha’s mini celebration was then interrupted by a call. She checked her phone and saw that it was from business two. “What?” She answered coldly. Listening to the report from the other line, Samantha’s good mood has spoiled. Why does these idiots can’t do any good work? They always fail one after the other. “At first, you let the kid escaped. Now, after tracking him back, your men were killed? Do you really wish to die?” Samantha can’t help but be annoyed. How many people has been escaping from her? That teen hacker was a catch already! Those idiots! “Marcus!” Samantha yelled. After just three seconds, the door swung open and a guy wearing black suit with a big scar on his left eye, entered. “Yes, President.” The guy spoke. “Eradicate those idiots. I am not in the mood to be lenient.” She ordered, getting a firm nod from the guy named Marcus, before exiting her office. Samantha continued drinking her tea, however, the drink turned cold already, annoying her even more. She threw the teacup on the floor and cursed. “F*ck! F*ck those idiots!”       ‘A group of dead bodies has been found in the dumpster along-‘ Russell looked at his driver after he turned off the radio. “Why turn it off?” He asked. “Those type of news just brings bad luck, Sir. It’s Monday morning, we can’t start our day with such negative news.” The driver replied. Russell nodded. He agrees. Today is such a special day, too. After reaching the company, Russell visited his office first before proceeding to the conference room for his meeting with the board. He checked his phone and saw a message from Tanya. The woman’s already in the building and is already on her way up. Russel can’t help but feel nervous. It’s his first time to work with Tanya around. That monthly meeting he had along with the other CEO’s does not count at all. This is his domain. Thus, he is too afraid that he’ll mess up in Tanya’s presence. He just can’t do that. Definitely can’t. ‘You can do this Russell Collins! You’re the greatest CEO that Tanya has. Show him your charisma at work bud!’ “The chairwoman is here.” The staff manning the door announced. Moments later, the conference door opened and Tanya entered along with her butler; Gilbert, behind her. Russell stood and is followed by the rest. Together, they all bowed at Tanya and greeted in unison. “We are happy to welcome you aboard, Chairwoman Gasque.”     Tanya entered her car coolly. She is fully aware that people’s eyes are still darted at her even though she’s about to enter her car to leave. But who would not? The known shadow chairwoman of four huge companies, who always work behind the shadows of four amazing CEO’s, just suddenly decided to show up slowly on every companies she owned and wanted to be involved directly. Specifically saying, she decided to be part of every decisions that every company would take. A hands-on chairwoman. The very opposite of the reputation she had.  That information must have been too surprising for everyone; thus, she’s been stared at intently ever since. When the door shut close, Tanya finally slouched down and breathed. She also even sighed heavily in relief. “Damn, that was exhilarating!” She exclaimed. Riley, who was already inside the car waiting, chuckled at her sight. “You looked awful, sister Tanya.” She commented. Tanya pouted with that terribly honest comment. She reached Riley’s cheek and pinched it. “Stop teasing your sister. I’ve been really worried, you know.” She sulked. “But you did good, Miss.” Gilbert, who’s in the driver seat, joined their conversation. Tanya looked at Gilbert via rear view mirror. “Stop lying Gilbert. I know I looked so nervous earlier. I don’t even know what Russell was talking about from the beginning to the end. When I snapped myself out, the conference meeting was already finished.” Tanya frustratingly shared. But Gilbert just smiled in response. “I didn’t notice it, Miss.” He just commented. Obviously lying. Tanya rolled her eyes to her butler. “Anyways, let’s now go to our next destination. We need to buy Riley’s things for her upcoming class. And there’s Haru and Sasaki’s things too. So, step on it, Gilbert. We have a long day ahead of us.” She ordered and Gilbert smilingly followed. With Monty and Morty’s car behind them, Tanya and Riley went to a nearby shopping mall in a convoy.     Inside a car, parked nearby TG Capital building, a group of two people was watching the main entrance via binoculars. Both are uneasy as this is the third day of their deadline. If their assignment won’t be fulfilled today, they all won’t see the sunrise tomorrow. Just like the other three people who failed theirs, the other day. When the target’s car moved, they also moved and followed three cars behind. They are fully aware that the fearsome twin brother bodyguards are also around but they don’t mind anymore. It’s whether they die trying or be killed and abandoned by their boss. And it seems like they hit the jackpot when the car entered the parking lot of a nearby shopping mall. The usual route changed and the target did not directly go home like the usual. This will be their first and last chance. And to make sure to do a perfect job, the two called a back-up and went after their target. They followed carefully, looking for an opening. They waited patiently. Then, after three hours, an opening finally opened up for them. The target went inside the washroom for ladies together with the person she’s with. And since that was the case, the two bodyguards stood by the door. They thought at first that had no chance, but suddenly. The woman together with the target left, and is also followed by the two bodyguards. Though the target was still with one old man waiting by the door, it was no hard feat. They easily knocked the old man out silently, and went inside the washroom. And there, two shots from their gun finished their assignment. A clean-up of their escaped package. “Riley!”
