Chapter 9

9/14/2027

Serene's POV

After all the hugs and happy birthdays from everyone myself and the girls were dragged to the SPA/Salon to be ready for tonight. The smell of floral shampoos/serums filled the air and the heat from the blow dryers was a little intense but not bad on how warm it is. I start to feel my eyes go heavy cause this is heaven. I begin to smile and look around. Everyone is happy and laughing which is what I want to see.

"Hey Serene...hello chica?" Letty gets my attention while waving her hand in front of me.

"Huh, sorry can you repeat that? Hehe." I asked.

"I asked you if you have sensed your mate or in this case confirmed if you crush is your mate?" she says sarcastically out loud.

My mouth just dropped, "Letty not so loud." I whispered sternly to her. I can already feel my face getting red and it was not because of the heat from the blow dryer.

Elena laughs but softens her expression, "Knock it off Letty...Serene will tell us obviously if it was you know who. Besides as we know the mate bond is between those who are meant to be. We all were taught patience and that our goddess will gift us with someone who will cherish us."

I could not help but stare at Elena she knows when to be serious, fun and wise. She is someone that I always will respect.

"What is there something on my face?" she asks.

"No sorry, you always know what to say even if we are teasing each other." I reply.

"Oh stop, I am just repeating what we all know and plus I am 19 and Letty has been 18 for 9 months. But I am patient, I know whoever my mate is I will be happy. I just hope I am worthy." her expression changed which we all knew what she meant.

What we all were taught is never take the mate bond lightly or selfishly breaking the bond over childish petty reasons. "Hey no worry lines Birthday girl." Letty says as she pokes her index finger against my forehead.

"Your right, oooh before I forget I need to talk to you both in private as soon as we are done with hair and makeup." I said quickly.

"Alright sugar, time for makeup please come with me. Sorry to interrupt, but don't wanna have the Luna upset with time." my stylist Lacey says.

"Sounds good to."

"Okay hopefully once we are done we can girl." Elena said.

We continued with getting everything done from our hair, too makeup and nails. Honestly I need to treat myself more on spa days I go once every 3 months. I still do my selfcare don't get me wrong but once and a while I need to pamper myself.

*Few hours later*

12:55pm

We are all done getting ready except we are gonna get dressed later mom doesn't want us to dirty right as everyone is coming so we decided to eat some fruits and light snacks before 6:30pm. As the omega left Elena locked the door to my room behind her.

"So what is that you wanted to talk about Serene? Everything okay?" Elena asked.

Luckily the rooms here at home are all sound proof, I don't have to worry about people being nosy. I took a deep breathe and filled the girls on everything. Which it felt like it was a lengthy explanation as the dead silence was killing me. But then of course their expressions said it all.

Both Elena and Letty responded at the same time, "Holy F'''!! Are serious, this better not be a joke."

I shook my head and closed my eyes for a moment, then opened them their mouths dropped I knew V allowed my eyes to change color.

Still the silence was killing so I broke the silence, "Well can you two say something please...?".

"Give us a moment it is a lot to digest, one minute we are curious about if this had to do with maybe your mate. But this..this is big way bigger news then anything. Girl are you saying this is connected to the prophecy?" Elena asked.

"E, she would never lie or in this case joke about this. Not saying you don't believe her, but this is literally jaw dropping news. How do you feel about all of this Serene?" Letty asked looking at me with a solemn expression of worry.

"Honestly mixed emotions, happy that I met my wolf Victoria, my nerves are shot with anxiety and shock. But if this is what the Moon goddess herself intend on wanting to happen then I trust her as always." I responded but of course my hands were shaking. I am not lieing no just wondering what will happen now, am I really the mate to the king or is it really a test to see what I will do. Will I bring peace or chaos as the prophecy said. I shake my head at the thought and just stare at my feet, I reach over to grab a can of Coke, but in the midst of me picking it up I lose my grip and drop it. Thank the goddess it was not open but both of my girls noticed and immediatley hugged me. As soon as they did that that is when I felt all of my emotions calmed down and I was able to feel less anxious.

"Thanks I needed this. I am honestly still trying to wrap my brain around this. But I am happy that I have you both in my life I honestly don't know what I do without you both." I tightly hug them both back.

"We are always on your side, never forget that." Letty said.

"Mhmm, we love you Serene and we got your back 1000%." Elena says as she softly chuckles.

After a few minutes passed, I cleared my throat. " I wanna get some fresh air, I am just going to step outside for a moment. In case my mom comes back mind link me. But don't say anything about what I mentioned just say I am nervous about tonights party and that I am also excited." They both nod and smiled at me.

"Thanks, love you both." I walk outside the side door leading out to the small patio area. I begin to walk towards the Willow tree that I love to sit under.

I take a long deep breath the breeze feels so nice and refreshing. I look down at my feet, 'I am glad i am just in a soft satin dress with a satin robe. Mom would kill me if I got the dress dirty.' I think to myself.

A few minutes go by 'Are you okay Serene?' V asked.

'Honestly yes and no. Even though the girls helped relieve me of my anxiety and nerves but I am still worried about tonight and meeting my mate. I don't know if it is really the King. Doesn't prophecy change or is it already written as the Goddess intended.'

V takes a breathe a says 'The goddess path is unknowing and at this moment we do not know exactly if you are or not meant to be with the King. Only tonight will tell us.'

'I thought so, well we have time to spare for a small walk before we have to head back.' I replied and started walking along the lake.

As I continue passing the bench, the smell hits me. Autumn leaves with a mix of honey. I take a deep breathe and close my eyes to focus on the smell. 'Mate it is our mate Serene.' V says excitingly.

Before I could respond, I open my eyes and immediately see the tall figure in front of me. Who I saw completely shocked me.

"Travis..." I softly say to him. I saw his eyes thinking he would be happy but all I saw cold disgust in his eyes.

"Travis I can't believe that we are..."

"I Travis Richard Dorian Gamma to be of the Azure Eclipse pack reject you Serene Silverstone." Travis said emotionless.

Like knives his words cut me deeply, I can hear V whinning.

"Why Travis, did I do something wrong?" I shakingly ask him.

Without hesitation, "Not you but the Goddess mating me to you is the biggest mistake. I do not want a little girl as my mate, and honestly I prefer experienced women. I do not want you Serene."

I don't understand his voice holds no remorse, care or love. Just hate and it is petty selfish filled with not a single good reason. I look to the ground and begin feels my eyes tear up. Of all days today I meet my mate and get my heart broken by my mate on my birthday. How can he do this to me? This...this... 'just like that it all came right out of me.

With a growl in my voice behind my words there was no holding back, "You Bastard....how dare you?" I look up at him seeing the shock in his face. "How dare you do this, I have never did nothing wrong to you and for a not a good enough selfish reason you don't want to be with me because I am not experienced. You are such a hypocritical, egotistical, conevying womanizer."

I begin to slightly laugh, "I am not gonna let you ruin today, of all days it could have been any other day when we could have confirmed this bond but now then never."

I straighten my posture with only my anger and hate behind my expression. "I Serene Silverstone, daughter of the Alpha Marcus of Azure Eclipse accept your rejection." With the same pain intesified but I kept my composure. I began to turn around and walk back to the pack house.

"I hope you find the happiness that you deserve Travis. Tonight I do not want you near me but if we interact at some point I will only tolerate you out of respect for my brothers. But I will at some point tell them and that will be your responsibility to deal with." I say out loud for him to hear as I continued to walk back.

I do not turn around or even stop. I have to get back, I need to hurry I begin to run back quickly to the room. As soon as I walk in I see Elena and Letty.

"Hey girl we were just about to call you..." Letty does not even finish her sentence and rushes to me.

Elena sees this and does the same. "Serene what happened?"

I could not even talk I just started crying and collapsed to the ground. Both of them immediately pulled me into their arms I continued to scream and cry.

What felt like hours I was able to calm down, they both helped me to a vanity chair. Letty called my stylist Lacey to come to the room quickly. Without asking quesitons Lacey rushed in and began to fix me up hair and makeup. But I could tell she wanted to ask but knew.

Another hour goes by and it is now 4pm. Lacey leaves but before she does she hugs me softly.

"Alright you better spill cause I am ready to kick whose ever a** I need to." Elena says.

"I have to agree with E, I will not tolerate someone making our girl cry especially on her birthday." Letty says growling between her teeth.

I shake my head, "I don't want to talk more about it otherwise I am going to cry. Just please lets get the party over with tonight and tomorrow I promise I will tell everyone. Please I just want to salvage what is left of my birthday."

I look at both of them pleading with my puppy dog eye look.

A deep grunting sigh. "Fine but you will tell us asap. No if ands or buts." Letty said.

I look at Elena, who was filled with rage. I grab her hand and look at her as well. "Fine but I mean Serene I need a name."

"I promise."

"Alright girls time to put on your dress, I am so excited to see the full look." Moms voice breaks the tensed vibe.

"Mija, you okay?" Mom asked.

Deep breathes, "Yes I am mom, I can't wait to see the full glam look for me tonight."

"Okay mija, lets get you girls dressed." Mom said. So we begin to finish getting ready.

Oh goddess I hope you know what my path has in store for me I am more worried then I ever been.
