Chapter 8

Adrian POV

9/13/2027

11:00pm

"I can't believe I lost ugh we should have never got Serene into video games.' Nick said with the tone of sore loser.

I begin to laugh at him that was his own fault. In the moment of my own thought Nick punched me in the shoulder.

"Hey I would not be laughing cause she kicked your butt too the first round." Nick mentioned.

I stare at him, "Well not my fault you suck hehe." Before Nick could get another swing, we were then mind linked by Dad.

"Boys please come to my office." Dad asked.

"Everything okay dad?" knowing our dad it is rare that he would mind link us this late. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

"Adrian please you and your brother come to your Dads office right now." Mom said.

"Yes ma'am" We both responded at the same time.

Making our way quickly to our Dads office on the third floor. Nick knocks on the door.

*Knocking sounds*

"Come in boys." Dad said in his Alpha tone. This cannot be good I think to myself.

As we enter Dad and Mom are sitting at his desk. We then notice both Beta Alyx and Gamma Randy were there as well. Along with unfamiliar face that I never seen before.

"Adrian, Nick thank you both for coming I know it is late but there is something we need to talk with you both." Dad began. "But before we jump in to the main detail, this gentleman is Elder Jason Cross."

An Elder, wide eyed Nick and I looked at each other and immediately bowed our heads out of respect. "Pleasure to meet you sir my name is Adrian Luis Silverstone." I formally introduced myself.

"Good evening sir my name is Nicholas Manuel SIlverstone. It is an honor to meet you." Nick introduced himself.

Without having to look up we could tell our Mom was proud of us, part our education she made sure we learned proper manners, etiquette and how to properly introduce ourselves in front of Important figures.

Elder Jason then spoke, "Please is mine to meet you both. Marcus you were right I can tell the Goddess has blessed them with wisdom, strength and maturity that I rarely see in men of their age."

Dad, "I can't take this credit Jason that would have to go to my beloved Luna their mother."

"I stand corrected, Luna you have raised very fine young men." Elder Jason said and bowed to Mom.

An Elder bowing to another is rare and unheard of.

Mom quickly and nervoulsy spoke, "Oh no Elder Jason please no need to bow to someone like me. Please stand up."

The elder stood up and began, "Well I will get right to the point since it is late in the evening. The reason I asked for everyone including the future Alpha and Beta. Unfortunate the Gamma could not join us but understandable on patrol shifts. Anywho...as you all know the prophecy that the Queen Dowager proclaimed his to occur tomorrow."

Yes the prophecy of the next Queen the Emerald wolf. Elder Jason continued, "We believe it is someone of this pack but so far there have been no signs but we are for certain."

"That is very vague Elder we have many that have recently or about to turn 18 in fact the Alpha and Lunas daughter her birthday is within the next hour tomorrow." Beta Alyx said.

We all had similar expressions but we can't be sure who, heck if were Serene that is a lot for her. Growing up as kids Serene has a tendency to take on all she was given and more without complaint but behind her smile I can always tell when she is irritated, tired and or annoyed. I shake my head maybe one of the other wolf girls but most has met their wolves maybe the wolf manifest it self at the Moon Rites. I continue to ponder the thoughts, I feel a nudge and Nick motions me to everyone.

Clearing his throat Dad then says, "So how can we accomodate to help prepare for the Emerald wolf to make their appereance?"

Elder Jason spoke, "At the moment all we can do to prepare is when it happens let the King meet them naturally. We can't interfere with the powers at hand. The Moon Goddess does not tolerate anyone causing trouble for those on her path. But free will allows us to make decisions. Anything we do has a reward or consquence."

"I have to agree I think for now we wait, so lets all head back to our rooms to rest." Mom said out loud. "All of you including myself will get a headache if we overthink this. Marcus my love I am already seeing bags underneath your eyes lets head to bed." Mom reachs for dads cheek and as his expression relaxed mom smiled.

"You're my Luna, alright I think that is enough for tonight, lets pause this conversation until the Emerald wolf makes herself known." Dad motions everyone to leave but then speaks, "Adrian and Nick please wait a moment."

Once the others left Dad steps from behind his desk with mom and walks over to us.

"Boys I need you both be on alert I don't know why but I am having a unsettling feeling about tomorrow. You're mother thinks I am just being paranoid but...." He trails of then says, "If you sister meets her mate I am at my wits I don't my little girl to grow up just yet!"

Both myself and Nick begin to laugh. "Sorry dad, but you Serene is gonna be fine. If anything whoever her mate is he will have to worry about us." I mischievously grinned.

"Oh yeah that guy has a lot to deal with." Nick says as he cracks his knuckles.

Dad regain his composure and then cracks his neck, "It has been ages since I had to ruff up someone, what do you both say shall we greet with brute strength."

We all begin to laugh but then like ice mixed with fire a chill went down my spine.

I tap dads shoulder and point behind him towards mom.

"I see so my Husband and sons decide to start threatening a mate of my daughters. That for one we do not know who it is yet. Well I will say this..." Mom takes a deep breath with a smile that could cut anyone in a stern loving tone. "If any of you embarass Serene or scare away her Goddess given mate. I will personally handle your punishment on the training grounds. Am I clear?"

Without having to look I could tell we all had the same expression and pale looks. We nod frantically to mom.

"Sorry mom took the joke too far. Don't worry we will behave." Nick said.

I nod in agreement and so does Dad.

"Good now everyone off to bed, Marcus even though apologies were made you and I will have a long conversation." Mom says gently but at the same time in a scolding tone.

I nudge Nick motioning him to start walking to the door. He walks out first, I turn my head to see already mom was getting ready to scold dad. Sorry dad but you know how mom gets. I shake my head and chuckle to myself.

We continue to head to our rooms, but before we seperated Nick spoke. "I will admit I am worried and dreading about tomorrow."

"Why do you say that? I know mom can be alot but..."

Nick interrupted, "I don't know it is probably just the nerves but the King himself is coming and you know me under pressure I word vomit everything when it comes to heavily influenced figures or in this case Royalty."

I hate to admit but even I am nervous myself, but I can't feed that to Nick.

I place a hand on his shoulder and say "Well if that happens then you ruin any chance you have with your mate if you meet her tomorrow hehe."

His face immediatley turns red and pushes my hand away. "Ugh why can't you be serious for more a few minutes."

I begin to chuckle, "Sorry man, you know me I have to break the ice with a joke, but I get it. You got this, tomorrow will go by fast and you won't have to stress about it."

Nick sighs, "Alright but hey lets hope Serene has a wonderful birthday."

"I agree night little brother."

I then walk into my room and flopped onto my bed. 'Lets hope tomorrow goes by smooth with no issues.'

'Goddess please for my sister if she meets her mate all I ask as her older brother that he treats her with respect and love her to the fullest.'

Travis POV

'Tonights patrol is as always smooth, I don't mind these late night shifts honestly don't see why not many want this shift.' I thought to myself. *rustling sounds* I turn quickly to the sound but relaxed as soon as I saw it was Lance.

"Goddess, Lance you should have texted me saying you were on the way." I said to Lance

Lance responded, "My bad dude, ready to switch?"

"Yeah thanks man, how is at the pack house?"

Lance,"Quiet now that all the omegas were able to finish late night clean up and laundry. Melanie texted saying she heading to bed."

"The Luna can be a lot but honestly the fact that she can host extravagant events/parties. Shows that she can handle anything and I do not want to ever be on her bad side. Not ever again." The thought came back into my mind from when Adrian, Nick and myself were younger and got into with another packs kids during basketball. During the fight the atmosphere changed from typical teenagers to a very pissed of mother/Luna. I thought we would never hear the end of her wrath until Alpha came in and saved us. But he had a few words, punishment was not as harsh as the Lunas words were. So mental note and remembering that experience I would never piss off the Luna. But....I think it might happen again I am not sure.

"Hello earth to Travis?" Lance waving his hand in front of me said out loud over my thoughts.

"My bad man got lost in thought, what were you saying?" I asked.

"I was asking if you were alright you look like someone with a heavy weight on your head?

Nothing gets past Lance, at of all the guys Lance is someone that when we need an ear or advise he does. As kids we did look up to Lance as like a big brother, at 18 he was already with Melanie and new right of the bat it was her. Once she turned 18 he described as everything went completely still nothing came into view but her. I take a deep breathe and lay it on him.

"So if I find out who my mate is tomorrow at the party honestly I don't think I want them... but part of me does i don't know." I grunt out of annoyance.

"Does this have to do with Maria? I only ask because I can tell you are only with her to fill a space or am I wrong."

Lance always blunt and straightforward. But of course that comment got on my nerves. "First of all she is not filling a space I do love her, so watch it on your next words." I growled.

"Calm down remember I can kick you a** still. I am saying you don't love her in the sense of meaningful love. Look I can't tell you what to do but only advise I can give is this whoever the goddess has decide to be with you remember this pack follows on the belief of "A great love is ones beautiful memory mistreat and hurt this love it will be anothers Treasure." He pats my shoulder.

"Thanks Lance, alright I am heading back take it easy tonight." I say as I give him a bro hug.

"You as well man and hey just take a breathe. Don't beat yourself up on something that you don't know if it is gonna happen. But if it does just think long an hard don't make a indescive decision."

I nod and continue to walk back to the pack house. "I should grab a small snack before heading to bed. I feel bad that I could not hang out more with everyone so I can see who won." I walk into the kitchen's pantry and grab a nutella snack pack. As I continue to the stairway I look at my watch it is 10 mins till 1am. I am only gonna get a few hours and I need to try to get a nap in before the party starts. I will be good hopefully I don't mess up anything for tomorrows setup. Then it hit me a sweet floral smell like wisteria flowers and roses. 'Mate...Mate.' Marius starts saying in the back of my head.

'Marius are you sure don't play with me dude nows not the time to mess with me.'

'I wouldn't be kidding about this it is our Mate.'

I follow the scent and realize before taking a step further...'Serene.'

Marius begins to howl and I can tell he is wagging his tail.

'We must go to her make ourselves known to our mate.'

'I am not waking her up for this...' then it hit me my vision started to blur and it is hard to breathe.

Before I let it come to me any further I force myself to walk back the opposite direction, I rush down the stairs and outside the main door. I run with every ounce of energy to the lake.

'What is wrong with you we need to go back to her.' Marius grunted at me.

'I am not gonna wake her up in the middle of the night, besides I don't she reacted cause I can tell she was still asleep. Plus I do not know what I want even if it is her.'

Marius growled heavily with hate, 'I warn you kid you deny her then you deny only your mate but mine as well. Think long and hard on your next words or in the case choice.'

Before I could even get a word in Marius shut me out. I pace back and forth for a few moments and sit down on the nearest bench.

I can't believe that the goddess has paired me with her, Serene my own best friends sister. I always yes thought she was cute but I would never have guessed that my inner thoughts were the bond coming more and more real. I scrunch my forward and hold my head in my hands. 'I can't...I just can't be with someone like Serene I deserve someone more then the sister of my best friend. She is strong but honestly..' I scoff at the thought and stand up.

'I am Travis Richard Dorian I can have anyone and I will not claim Serene as mine, I will do what I want.' I go back to the pack house and head straight back to my room and sleep the rest of the night.
