Emma had been trying to keep herself busy since Dominic had left. She spent long hours at work and took up new hobbies to distract herself. But nothing seemed to work. Every day, she found herself thinking about him and wondering when he would come back.
One day, Emma decided to take a walk through the park to clear her head. As she walked along the path, she heard someone call her name. She turned around and saw a familiar face.
It was Dominic.
Emma's heart raced as he walked towards her. She couldn't believe that he was back. "Dominic, you're back," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Dominic smiled at her. "I told you I would come back, didn't I?"
Emma couldn't help but smile in return. "I'm glad you're back," she said, feeling a sense of relief wash over her.
They walked through the park together, catching up on everything that had happened since Dominic had left. Emma listened intently as he told her about his travels and the things he had seen.
As they walked, Emma noticed that Dominic seemed different. He was quieter than usual, and his eyes seemed to be scanning the surroundings. She couldn't help but feel that something was off.
"What's wrong?" she finally asked.
Dominic hesitated for a moment before answering. "I need your help, Emma."
Emma's heart raced. "What do you need me to do?"
Dominic took a deep breath. "I need you to keep something safe for me. It's something very valuable, and I can't keep it with me."
Emma's mind raced. She knew that getting involved with something like this was dangerous, but she couldn't say no to him. "Okay, I'll do it. What is it?"
Dominic handed her a small package. "It's a flash drive. It contains some very important information. I need you to keep it safe until I come back for it."
Emma took the package from him, feeling the weight of the responsibility that came with it. "I'll keep it safe," she promised.
Dominic looked at her, his eyes serious. "Be careful, Emma. You're in danger now too."
With those words, he was gone. Emma was left standing in the park, holding the package in her hand and feeling a sense of unease wash over her. She knew that she was in over her head, but she couldn't turn back now. She had made a promise to Dominic, and she would keep it no matter what.
