Unexpected Visitor

*Sage* I made it to Pop’s house in record time. Normally, it was a 45-minute drive from where Madds and I live, but with the way I violated every speed limit on the way here, it only took 20 minutes tops. I pulled into the long driveway that led to a roundabout in front of our 3-story home. I parked my car next to Pop’s 2 other Lexus’. If the man was anything, it was consistent. He owned a Lexus LX 600, a Lexus LS 500, and a Lexus ES 350 as his daily work vehicle that was currently missing so I assumed he already left for work. I got out and grabbed my luggage from the back seat to then head inside. I stopped to check the black box on the porch for any packages to bring in. I opened the lid and looked inside, but it was empty. I guess it was still early though. Once inside, I disarmed the alarm before I removed my shoes and lined them up next to the others. I headed up the stairs to my room on the second floor at the end of the hall. My room looked exactly the way I remembered. Except there wasn’t a spec of dust, everything seemed freshly wiped down and the floors were vacuumed to perfection. My midnight black carpet was so soft and thick that as soon as my toes hit it my body wanted to follow. My floating canora gray California King Bed frame that had forest green bedding and fluffy white pillows looked freshly washed. It was as if he was always ready for me to come home. I smiled and shook my head at the thought. I walked into the spacious closet and set my suitcase inside. There looked to be some new clothes added to the collection. I wasn’t really surprised by that since Pop always rotated our wardrobe for the season. Everyone has a weakness and fashion was his. It took me a long time to adjust to the way Roger shopped but he was always a very patient man. We moved here after Ma died and he couldn’t stand to be in the home we had before because it was her dream home. She refused to waste money on a giant mansion that she would only spend 45% of her time in. Or only use 30% of the house. She never wanted to live in a home with more than 3 bedrooms and he couldn’t care less how big or small the home was she wanted, as long as she was in it. This place is much bigger and more spacious. This was one of the homes he lived in regularly. He had lots of properties and had even put a few in my name so that I’d always have a place to call home. I left my closet and went into the master bath that was attached to my bedroom. The bathroom had a spa-like design with a freestanding tub, a walk-in shower with multiple showerheads, and high-end marble tiles. Pop spared no expense when it came to comfort. He told me that it was important to build a life that you didn’t need a vacation from. Hence, all the luxurious amenities in our home. It took some self-control not to run a bubble bath and just marinate in the tub for an hour or two, but I needed to get ready for work. I know Pop wouldn’t miss me if I didn’t show up, and honestly, I needed a day to relax. I just couldn’t bring myself to not feel guilty for playing hooky. So, I grabbed a towel, stripped down, turned on the hot water, and stepped into the shower. “Ahhhhhh this is more like it.” I could feel all the tension leaving me as the water ran down my body. I could worry about Maddox and everything else after some me time. I grabbed my loofah and Hibiclens to disinfect my body first before I rinsed and then grabbed my vanilla cashmere- scented body wash to restore the moisture in my skin. I was really big on hygiene. I got made fun of a lot for not knowing how to properly take care of my body while growing up. It wasn’t until Ma showed me step by step how to maintain myself as a woman that she took me in. I’m extremely grateful for all the love and care she poured into me all the while she was alive. I finished my shower routine and got out after turning off the water. After I wrapped the towel around myself, I walked through my room to go to the closet to pick out my outfit for the day. “Hmm, what to wear?” I scanned the items, looking for something work-related, and settled on a creme-fitted pantsuit and brown tank top. I walked over to my dresser drawer to get underwear. I settle on a pair of floral white lace matching bra and panty set. I loved to feel sexy although I didn’t have an active s*x life. It made me feel freer in a sense. My outerwear was always fitted but modest. I liked it that way. It gave no room for anyone to say someone was seduced by me to acquire my achievements. I took pride in working hard for what I earned. The doorbell rang again right after I slipped into my underwear. I was going to ignore it but it sounded two more times before I huffed a sigh. “A girl just can’t catch a break can she.” I went into my closet to grab my red silk robe from where it was hanging on the door and slid into my house slippers before leaving my room to head downstairs. When I made it to the first floor, the landline began to ring loudly just as the doorbell rang again. Pop said it was important that we not depend on our cellphones, just in case we couldn’t be reached via a mobile device, then the landline would come in handy. It was mostly because I kept leaving my cell phone everywhere, but he was being nice. Before I could reach the phone, the ringing stopped, and I shrugged. “Oh well.” Well, I know it’s not Pop at the door; he never leaves his key. The only other person who would’ve figured out where I was right now was Maddox. That made me pause a little. I really didn’t think I was ready to face him now. Maybe I should pretend like I didn’t hear it. The next three bells came a little bit more aggressive than the last. “COMING!” I was walking down the hallway when the landline started ringing again. “Okay, ok, I hear you guys, sheesh.” I’ll just grab the landline on the way back after I answer the door. When I approached the door, I took a deep breath to prepare myself for whatever Madds had to say. I had to remind myself that even if he doesn’t want to be friends anymore, I need to respect his decision. No matter how much it'll hurt me. I unlocked the bolts and opened the door expecting to find Madds, only to encounter one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen in my entire life. I was stunned speechless. This was not Maddox, this man was definitely an unexpected visitor. “Well, this is most certainly a wonderful surprise. I was expecting Roger to greet me, but I’d much rather enjoy the company of a rare beauty such as yourself. "May I come in?”
