Wake Up Cooper

1163 Words
Cooper POV I wake up with a headache and I’m covered in my own blood. The birds have started their songs. Everyone is gone. They must have assumed I was dead. I wonder if that girl made it out. The sun is slowly starting to rise. I haven’t been here too long. Thinking back to that beautiful creature. All of those scars and the fresh wounds. ‘She is our second chance mate’ Cassius chimes in. ‘How can you know Cass? She hadn’t finished the rejection.’ ‘Moon goddess told me. She will be okay Coop, we need to head back to our pack.’ I slowly rise, allowing myself a minute to gain my composure. After a quick stretch I decide it is time to head back to my pack. Shifting mid air we take off in a flash. Letting Cassius take the wheel as my mind replays the recent events. Cassidy turned out to be fake, just as Cassius warned. Emerald, on the other hand, she seemed so genuine. Which is insane considering I’ve just met her. All the while I’m going back and forth we arrive at the pack house. My betta Sam meets me at the door with some shorts. “How did meeting your mate go?” His face showing concern. “Meeting her was initially great, events after, a total s**t show.” He raises a brow and gestures for me to continue. “I found my second chance mate.” His eyes go big, but to his credit, he doesn’t interrupt. “Turns out she as in my initial mate, is a rank chaser. I let her believe I was a warrior there with my alpha. I also found out the future alpha of Silvermoon is a psycho. Jeremy found his mate. He planned on taking Cassidy…” He furrows his brow a bit. “My mate. Sorry her name is Cassidy. He plans on making her Luna. His fated is a girl named Emerald. From what I gathered she is Cassidy's sister. She is littered in scars and fresh wounds. I have no idea what she’s been through but it’s bad. I felt drawn to her, like I had to protect her. I was ready to take Jeremy down, but my wonderful mate hit me from behind. Judging from the amount of blood I woke up in, she used a big rock or something. Either way, I woke up alone. They had to have assumed I died. My ribs are a little sore this morning too. I think they broke them.” Sam takes a moment to digest everything I just threw at him. “How are you handling this so well?” Confusion laced in his voice. “You’re so unfazed that you got rejected. How are you okay?” “You know I’m a bit different from other alphas. I assume that’s why I’m okay. Plus Cass said he talked to the moon goddess. According to him, Emerald if my second chance mate.” His face morphing from concern to excitement. Clapping his hands together he asks, “ so when do we go get your Luna?” "I don't know. I am unsure if she made it out of that situation okay. Like I said, my initial mate clobbered me with something from behind. We need to try and find her ASAP. I first need a quick nap and shower. Something is up with that pack. If Jeremy is that rotten, I do not have a good feeling about his father. I mean, I've always felt something was off with him, but I chalked it up to him just being socially awkward." Sam pauses, "We need to be smart about this Coop. We can't let them know about you being fated to either sister. Heck, we should let them think you're dead for a bit. See what they do, thinking you are dead." Sam is right. We have to be smart about this. Them thinking I am dead could be used to our advantage. An idea strikes me. "I have a way for us to get back on their pack lands without it causing suspicion. We can search for Emerald under the guise of looking for me." "We will go over your plan after you get some sleep. We will need you at your best, or at least close to. You are in a weakened state now. If things get ugly, I need my Alpha ready to go." With that, I head up to my room to recharge. After a much-needed power nap, I awake around 8. Mindlinking Sam before I get in the shower, I start to really formulate my plan. I’m dressed to the nines with my silk navy blue button up, my black dress pants and loafers. I grab my jacket and brief case before I leave the alpha floor. Sam meets me on the landing for his floor, along with my Gamma Charles. The ranked wolves all stay on this floor, save for the Alpha and the Luna. We descend the stairs together, discussing strategies. We decide it best to let Jeremy continue believing I am dead. I wanted both Sam and Charlie to give input. I do not like making decision while tired. Having two other minds go over an idea is always welcome. Sam will be acting alpha. I will pose at their driver, remaining in the car until they all go in the house. Granted, sunglasses won’t disguise me much, but nobody will look twice if they believe me to be an ordinary wolf. The dark tint on the SUVs won't hurt disgusing me either. Sam gets Charlie up to speed on the roller coaster of my mates as we start loading the SUV. With laptops, folders, the usual tools needed for a successful meeting. We plan on entering through the neighboring pack. The Alpha there is reasonable and might even help search for me. He seems honest unlike the Tate's. Rumor has it, he hates his brother-in-law. The day his sister Robyn found out she was mated to Tate, he mourned her as if she died. She honestly might be. Charlie said there is a rumor the Luna is missing along with the Beta's wife. Charlie brings me a large pair of aviators to help with my great disguise. Sam comes strolling up with our head warrior Nathan. Luckily for us we’re all around the same age and build, making it more difficult to distinguish our ranks. “Alright boys, let's go look for our Luna." It’s a two hour drive despite our packs being so close. Would cut the time in half if we could just run. I can’t seem to gauge how I’m feeling. I’m nervous sure, excited? Yes. Most of all I feel a calm. It feels so right. All these emotions for someone I briefly met. This mate bond thing is weird. ‘Just wait til we’re fully mated’ Cass laughs.
