The Missing Alpha

Cooper POV
We pull up to the gate of Crescent moon waiting for the guards to give the once over. After a nod, they open the gate and allow us passage. Alpha Jonathan is quite a wonderful Alpha. His land provides a back entrance to his brother-in-laws land. It’s a half hour before we reach the pack house. Alpha Jonathan stands out front, a curious smile on his lips. Beside him, his beta Robert and Gama Frederick. On the opposite end of the porch, Jeremy stands. Why the hell is he here? I would love more than nothing to wipe that smug look off his face.
‘He looks good for consuming wolfsbane.’
Fortunately we reach where I planned on parking anyway, or the sudden stop out cause unwanted curiosity.
“Dude! What the hell?” Charlie whisper yells.
“Cassius told you something didn’t he?” This is why he’s the most sought-after Beta.
“Alpha to be Jeremy is dosing himself with wolfsbane. His wolf took control the other night. He thinks Jeremy is a monster. He started the rejection process to help free her. He’s the one who would care for her after Jeremy abused her.”
The boys all let out a low growl before I get out of the car. Playing my part as driver I open the doors for them. Moving quickly so Jeremy doesn’t get curious. I stand to the side waiting for Sam to instruct me to stay with the vehicle.
“Beta Samuel how nice to see you. Where is your alpha?” He gracefully comes down the stairs with a hand extended.
Meeting him at the bottom step, hand extended Sam replies, “we were hoping you might be able to help us with that Alpha. He hasn’t returned from his meeting he had at your brother-in-laws pack.”
“You aren’t implying…”
“Oh goddess no!” Sam chuckles. “Let me start again. He hasn’t returned home, we think he had an accident or maybe got lost on his way home. With your permission we would like to find his scent and track him. His cell goes straight to voicemail and he isn’t in range to mindlink.”
Alpha Jonathan chuckles back, “you know I love to ruffle your feathers Samuel. Of course you have permission! In fact, we will help!”
“Seriously?!” Jeremy whines. “The big bad alpha got lost and we have to go find him?”
“Mind your tone boy. Alpha Cooper is a wonderful young Alpha. He took his pack over at your age and has brought peace and security. He is an ally you want IF you take over as Alpha.”
“IF?! I have been nothing but a good son!! My father will be hearing of your words!!”
“Your father should fear me. He is the reason my sister is dead!”
Jeremy pauses, genuinely confused. “Mom isn’t dead, she’s just missing is all.”
“She’s been gone for almost a full day. No demands have been made. It is safe to say someone did it to get back at your father.”
His voice so even and calm, it’s a bit unnerving. Turning his attention back to my guys he motions, “come with me and we shall make a plan.”
They all start to head inside leaving Jeremy. s**t! He needs to go in with them! After his hissy fit I don’t think his uncle wants him around! Before I can ask him, Cass pipes up, ‘ good thing your wolf is always a step ahead of you. I reached out and spoke with Orion. He will convince him.’
As if on que, Jonathan pauses. Questioning Orion but giving up as he calls to Jeremy.
“Might as well sit in on this meeting, how do I expect you to improve if you aren’t taught correctly?”
I watch Jeremy scoff but even he knows this is too good to pass up. Slowly he heads inside, giving me the opportunity I need. Standing beside the SUV I begin to scan the area trying to decide where to start. I need to beat the search party to that cliff, but how? If I am to find my Luna and bring her home, I need to follow her trail. ‘Head East.’
‘East?? Are you confused? We came from the West!’
‘Moon goddess said to head East. Let me take over Coop, I’ll get us there.’
