CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
Rosie’s face was as shocked as Charlotte imagined hers was. For a second, their eyes met, then Charlotte was on her feet and chasing after Harmony.
The other woman was at a standstill on the corner of the street, hand over her mouth as her head darted from one side to the other. Charlotte caught up as Harmony took a step forward.
“Harmony, wait.”
With a shake of her head, Harmony crossed the road and Charlotte followed.
“What’s distressed you?”
“Not distressed.”
“You ran out without a word.” Charlotte stepped alongside in time. “Did we do something to upset you?”
Nothing. Just face forward and fast walking.
“You looked at the end of the counter where I have the display. Was it one of the books?”
Harmony stopped and wrapped her arms around herself. She nodded.
