CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN Charlotte sat in her car outside Lakeview Care and closed her eyes, forcing her breathing into slow, deep inhales until she no longer felt ready to faint. Between not eating since last night—or was it the previous lunchtime—to holding her body so tense her muscles locked up, it was surprising she’d made it back to the car. The rain was back.
